Stay connected for news and updates

Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence early Friday morning.

Covington police arrested 23-year-old Maualuga around 3 a.m. Friday morning in the 600 block of Scott Street.

The Bengals' 2009 stand-out rookie is charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and was also cited for careless driving.

Maualuga will be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. at Kenton County District Court.

Maualuga was the Bengals second round draft pick from in 2009 and his rookie season ended in week 16 against the Kansas City Chiefs when he fractured his ankle.

Maualuga had 63 tackles, three forced fumbles and one sack in his first season in the NFL.

Rey blew a 0.15 which isn't retarded drunk but legally drunk. This is not the first time he has been arrested, he was locked up in 2005 for misdemeanor battery after punching some buster.

Profootballtalk.com Mikie Florio wants to hate on the Bengals, here we go with the Bengal Crimewave talk:

Just as the "day without an arrest" meter crept back into double digits, there's been another incident.
It's unknown whether the field sobriety test included asking Maualuga to correctly spell his own name.

Here is another mugshot for us, remember Leon Hall was arrested last year for the same thing but nothing came about as far as a suspension from the league. But since this name is a little bigger and him being such a role model for kids and most of us jungle fans it may just happen, but with so much time until next season, I expect this to be soon forgotten.

F^*% The Police!

Police would not discuss the arrest today, referring all questions to a supervisor who is not available. Rey Maualuga was booked into Kenton County jail.
