Bengals and Senior Bowl
I'm not sure how many of you watch the Senior Bowl practices on NFLnetwork. I myself watch it all, and record them for a reference. I usually watch as if I were a Bengals scout, so I look for players that we need. There were a few guys the Bengals could use, and a few others that just stood out from the rest. Here are 5 guys that I would love to see in stripes next season.
1) Dexter McCluster RB-WR (playmaker) 5'8" 165 lbs

McCluster came into this portion of the scouting process looking like a late 2nd to late 3rd round pick because he is small and limited as a runningback. Durring this weeks practices, McCluster showed he can play wide reciever. He runs better routes than I thought he would. McCluster looks quick, agile, and has unlimited playmaking potential. Look for McCluster to go anywhere from late 1st to middle of the 2nd round.
Player Comparison : This is tough, at first glance you may say "Darren Sproles", but Sproles is a rock, and McCluster is lighter and can play WR. I would go with a mix of Sproles, Percy Harvin, Desean Jackson, but that sounds too good to be true.
2) Mike Iupati G (can play all 5 spots) 6'6" 330 lbs

Iupati has always been the top rated Guard, but this week he showed he might be the best offensive lineman. Power, footwork, technique, lineman mentality, Iupati has it all. If you think he is just a Guard, then draft him in the early 20s, but if you think he can play all 5 spots on the line, he may go in the teens.
Player Comparison: Alan Faneca.
Faneca made himself an all pro because of his work ethic and attention to detail. If Mike Iupati has the same will, expect similar results.
3) Kyle Wilson CB 5'10" 190 lbs

Wilson is the best CB at the senior bowl this week. He has average size and bulk, but plays tough and quick. Wilson has good speed and should time well at the scouting combine. Depending on how fast he runs, look for Wilson to be the 2nd CB drafted in april.
Player Comparison: Asante Samuel.
Wilson will bite on double moves and pump fakes, but he will also make a big interception.
4) Taylor Price WR 6'1" 209 lbs

Price has the size and speed you look for in a wide reciever. At the senior bowl practices, Price looked like the best route runner. He looked quick, agile, and elusive. Price also returned kicks at Ohio. Look for him to be drafted 4th-6th round, but I would take him higher than that.
Player Comparison: Miles Austin.
Size, speed, yard after catch, route running. Price looks to have it all.
5) Jared Odrick DL (DT in our 4-3) 6'5" 301lbs

Odrick looks like a perfect 3-4 defensive end. For the Bengals he would be a pass rushing DT. Odrick isnt a great run defnder, so he had to show his worth as a pass rusher this week, and he showed more quckness than I expected. Look for him to be drafted in the 2nd round.
Player Comparison: Adam Carricker.
Odrick may not be a full time starter at DT because he will have leverage and point of attack issues, but he will be able to rush the passer from the inside.

you missed the two guys the Bengals
were unable to hide they were scouting in the senior bowl.
Larry Asante, SS, Nebraska, 6-0, 211.
Chris Cook, CB/FS, Virginia, 6-2, 212.
Personally i can see the Bengals taking these players with their 3rd and 3rd (comp) picks. Solidifying our safety spots in one round.
Can’t see Price being anything other than a Raider. I bet Al Davis is pooing himself right now about drafting him and solving all those WR problems he’s had.
In a Bengals draft i was counjuring up i had Kyle Wilson going to us in the second because i felt, reading Zimmer’s quotes concerning needing to beef up our secondary, he wanted a playmaker CB to build an insanely solid CB depth of Hall, Joseph, Wilson, and Trent. ( i have changed the pick to Perrish Cox first round talent, 4th round character).
only issue with Iupati is he loves to hold… sounds like a perfect fit for our o-line.
I’d love for the Bengals to draft McCluster (been dreaming about it since he got his start at RB for Ole Miss) but i can’t see it fitting our new philosophy. A back to keep an eye on is Ben Tate from Auburn (yeah another RB from Auburn. He is said to have also been looked at by the Bengals as a good back-up for Benson.

Apparently Pike and Gilyard were both pretty sick.
They were solid
Gilyard had a nice TD catch

The first three guys
The first three guys on your list we won’t be able to get if we prioritize our needs, the last last two however sound like great picks that we might actually be able to pick up. Ooh to see Odrick in orange and Black!
First things first.
Get Brandon Marshall from the Broncos and THEN draft the best defensive player available in the second round. For my money, getting Marshall should be Job 1.

Geesh....do we really need an undersized Peter Warrick in round 1?
Also No way Mike Iupati is there at round 2 or Jared Odrick in round 5.
this wasnt a mock draft
it was a list of guys who stood out at senior bowl practices
