Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

"He did good. I think he was off a step or two on some things but we were able to correct that and move forward," Benson said. "It’s good to see him out there getting a shot and showing what he can do and taking advantage of it."

Did anyone

Else see in the 1st qtr when andre smith clogged up the hole with his body that C ben slammed the ball down on the field and yelled at him. I wish I could of heard what he told him. All in all not a bad showing for Big A. He did have some costly penalties. If I remember correctly they penalties just came at the wrong time. He also let one sack on his side. I hope he keeps improving, because there is no question about the power he possess. He was pushing people off the line for a majority of the game.

We have handled the A. Smith situation so poorly.. I am glad we are finally letting our 1st rounder play ball.

I bet Andre

Graded out better than any games Roland played. I think he did pretty well except for maybe a couple plays.

Golf players: Y'all feel like we're just "playing our slice" here?

When top-tier teams recognize a draft “oops,” (I won’t call him a draft bust at this point…not yet) they cut their losses and move on to the next guy. The Bengals always seem to have carried far too many players with the label of “project,” and that’s certainly not what any team…or its fans…should expect out of a high first-rounder.

But instead, we employ euphemisms like, “he’s getting a shot,” and “he’s coming along…” Dude should be a solid contributor by now.

Playing our slice…I’m tellin’ you, guys…

While I think Smith should be more of a solid contributor by now, I disagree fully with the suggestion of the “project players”. In the top 2 rounds, Simpson is the only ‘project’ drafted and that appears to have failed. Yeah, I would like to see more out of Rivers and I think it’s too early to fully gauge Rey, Gresham and Dunlop.

I think it’s more a case of them taking a top rated talent, which there is nothing wrong with, and in some cases, that talent not being able to fully handle the mindset of being a NFL player. Unfortunately, it isn’t something that a team can fully get a handle on before the draft.
