It has been a while since my last fanpost so here we go
Last year at this time we had alot of sacks, not exactly sure how many but I know Odom had at least eight before the injury. This season is totally different, we are dead last in the league in sacks with three sacks all season, and I think two of those sacks came from linebackers/safeties (The one vs. the Browns was Rivers on a Blitz). This makes the jobs of the secondary so much harder if we can't get any pressure on the quarterback. The defensive ends and defensive tackles have to elevate their game for this team to have any shot at making the playoffs, we cannot give players like Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and little Ben all the time in the world to throw the ball. These quarterbacks will eat us alive in the coming weeks if the defensive line cannot step their game up to a championship level. Players like Odom and Peko have really been non-factors at all this season and that really has to change for us to have a shot.
We win and lose with the play up front on the defensive and offensive lines, both of which have been shaky at best in 2010. What is the problem? Is it personnel? Is it the coaching? (doubt it is the coaching on defense) I'm not sure what exactly the problem is, you can't put your finger on just one thing but something has to change. I know Geno Atkins and Michael Johnson need to get more snaps, both these guys are young firecrackers and should be on the field more. Bottom line though, the D-line has to play better, the guys we expected to be great this season have done nothing (Peko, Odom). Is it time for the younger guys to show us what they can do? Or do we continue with the high paid Peko and Odom? I'm not saying bench these guys, i'm just saying something has to change.
Who Dey my friends, and beat the Bucs
