Open Thread: College Football Open Thread
Hey fellas. It's been a rough couple of days for me, with a car that suddenly said "good bye cruel world." While trying to find out about whether or not it's worth saving old Big Cherry for an extended life, I'm also looking to get a new vehicle. So today will be your day, watching college football and enjoying the good life because most of you have working vehicles.
This is your Saturday College Open Thread. Talk about the college games, the upcoming Bengals game against the Buccaneers or the Cincinnati Reds' two game deficit heading into the team's game three on Sunday.

The Reds game last night sucked.

I may or may not have killed a drifter in anger after the game. Still trying to piece it all together.
How will Chris Carpenter explain this to his children?
My dad got a hold of tickets to Game 4.
But right now I’m not sure there’s going to be a Game 4.

Ohio State is dominant this year.
The OSU-Michigan game is going to be epic. By that time, the Heisman race could be a two-man race between Pryor and Robinson.

Don't buy a brand new car
You’re just wasting your money. Get a reliable used car a couple of years old or so. You’ll save yourself around $10,000
My reliable used car's door fell off 4 years into ownership.
Brakes have failed once, spark plugs replaced twice, door handle duct taped on, cigarette lighters broken.
I cannot wait for the day I buy my first new car and get a factory warranty. Oh the glory of not having to wonder how I’ll pay for the next thing that explodes!

Or you could use Carfax next time.
[waits for Carfax to call and offer me a contract]

I did!
No sign that she was a lemon when I bought her!

How much did it all add up to?
Sounds like less than $1,000. Better that than lose $10,000 the minute you drive the car off the lot.
Well.....
Spark plugs twice: $500 bucks a go round, 1K
Door Hinges Replaced: $420
Brakes: Was like $1K or some nonsense
100,000 mile fluid replacement and what not 1K
Tying rods or whatever they are: Like $200 w/ the work.
So close to 4.5K, and that’s just what I remember, and not counting the 3 sets of tires of gone through
Plus, KBB value of a 2000 GT Mustang in 2004: 10K, which is what I paid
Value as of August 2010: $3,500
Used car savings=over rated.

And forgot to mention b/c I've given up fixing it....
ABS system went out. 2.3 K to replace w/ labor. Jeezus. No ABS for me.

Bad weekend for cars
My Buick brokedown this weekend. Let’s hope it’s a better weekend for football.
This is our year!
I took Carson to the Youngstown State game today, my little guy's first football game.
We left at halftime because that three-year old was seriously overstimulated, but they ended up losing a heartbreaker.
GOOD MORNING BENGALDOM!
It’s time to get this party started. Our Bengals play at 1:00 and our Reds play at 8:00.
I just received my new jersey’s a few days ago, so that’s the first thing i put on today when I woke up. Who Dey! and it’s time to bring out the Big Red Machine b/c we have 3 straight in a row to win.
Well, if that's not a shocker?
I’m sitting here this morning sporting my new jersey and what to my amazing eyes and ears do I come across? The NFL Network. I’m thinking OK, my step son just ran into Michael Ervin Friday night at a bar downtown Cincy and all of the sudden he appears on the TV with an interview with none other than TO. I said to my step son that he was here to do some sort of segment for the NFL Network and there it was right in front of me on my 65" HD TV. Then I heard the interview with TO, and you guys should too. They just did the first, of a two part segment, of the interview and I’m waiting for the 2nd part now.
In the first part, it doesn’t look pretty because Micheal ask the question “why with all the weapons is cincy having problems?” They made it seem like TO just threw Carson under the bus, but not before he ran Carson over himself, first. We have to wait a little longer before we actually find out TO’s answer to the question.
If he did throw Carson under the bus, then here we go with the TO shit! Trouble in the locker room.
This is a must see on the NFL Network. They also have a portion of it on
