Could Be Lost For The Year: Mike Nugent Suffers Possible ACL And MCL Injury
Bengals place kicker Mike Nugent has only converted 78.9% of his field goal attempts this season, which is worse than any season with Shayne Graham whose lowest field goal conversion with the Bengals was 82.1% during his final season with Cincinnati in 2009. Nugent missed a field goal against the Browns; a game in which the Bengals lost by three points. Nugent also missed two field goals against the Pittsburgh Steelers; a game in which the Bengals lost by six points.
Yet if the Bengals successfully capitalized on their onside recovery late in the game, Nugent would be most remembered for that kick.
Instead, that kick could be Nugent's final act as a Cincinnati Bengal this season. After kicking the football, Nugent trailed the kick and decided to cut like Barry Sanders, injuring his knee to the point that he was literally picked up off the ground by two teammates, just like a pissed off owner would carry a cat when the water gun was out of ammunition.
After the game, Nugent was reportedly on crutches and it's generally feared that he's lost for the season with an ACL and MCL injury. "It doesn't look good," Nugent said.
As if the football Gods weren't pissed off enough with the Bengals, Dave Rayner, the place kicker that lost out to Nugent during training camp and the preseason, was signed last week by the Detroit Lions, filling in for injured Jason Hanson. Shayne Graham also signed last week with the New England Patriots after Stephen Gostkowki suffered an injury.

Chad can kick....
and the Bengals can activate Simpson on game days! Yay, we all win.

Oh, and Troy Smith,
who the Bengals could’ve pick up in the beginning of the year, look great today in the 49ers OT win. This kid has a future in the NFL. Mark my words…
It’s a damn shame about Nuge. What else could go wrong. They should just start forfeiting each game, the rest of the season.
Yeh, I'm in the "can the season end?" bandwagon already.
The Bengals have nothing to play for and they keep losing key guys. If Dennis Roland keeps playing, Palmer’s next.
He gave up one sack at the end when we had already lost the game, same as Whit. What's your problem with him?
Did you see him run blocking?

Yeah, and the whole line sucked at run blocking today.
The guy is talking about Palmer not be protected by Roland, I say, give me the proof right now.
You want proof?
Andre’s having issues keeping his temper down and not causing penalties, so Marvin benches him against the Steelers. Puts Roland in, the following play, Palmer gets sacked.
I could pull stats but that’s pretty much the culmination of how much better Palmer plays with Andre in over Roland. I’m all for Collins getting shots as well.

Jim is taking up for Roland seriously? WOW

In the words of our Hall of Fame QB.
"I don’t think I got hit all night until the end of the game; the pass protection was amazing," Palmer said. "When you play against those guys, it was amazing. We did something that no other teams have done, which is come into their place and block their two big D-ends. The last two plays of the game, they’re extremely difficult on our tackles. They’re one-on-one and those guys are just teeing off. But all game long, I didn’t get touched."
Pull stats then.
The stat yesterday was that Roland, playing against one of the better DE’s in the game didn’t give up a sack until one of the last plays of the game.

Yes it does...
Something has to be done or we are going to be stuck with this jagoff for another 20 years.
MIKE BROWN STEP DOWN!!!
This may just secure a top 5 spot..
and hopefully we trade back from that spot :)
Damn I’m too optimistic..
Sports = Money.
even if they can't trade back,
what is to stop them from ust not submitting a pick until they want to. THere is nothing in the NFL rules that prohibits that.

depending on how Buffalo finishes...
it’s going to be a very interesting off-season with the Luck Vs Dareus debate. I presume that Dallas can get a few more wins and Carolina targets AJ Green, which takes them out of the picture. Sigh alright pondering draft options. Fuck 2010.
Cam Newton?
AJ Green? Julio Jones?

In the rules, no. In the edicts of Herr Goodell, yes. He’s laid down the law in no uncertain terms that teams are not allowed to do that.
But realistically it probably won’t matter as much anymore. One of the only things the league and the union seem to agree on right now is that there’s going to have to be some sort of rookie salary scale. Working out the details will be a pain, but at least we can be pretty sure there will be one. Which means that trading back will actually be a feasible option again.
Not that it will help. Mikey the Moron will probably still not consider doing it. He’ll have his heart set on the next Akili Smith instead.
I honestly can't even think of a FA Kicker out there.
even the retired ones wouldn’t come back ala Stover with Indy.
fuck... he was half the reason i have watched the last few games
