Club Option Approaches In 2011: Chad Ochocinco Would Like To Remain In Cincinnati
On April 20, 2006, Chad Ochocinco signed a six-year $35.5 million contract with the final year on the contract being an option year. If the Bengals exercise the option, then Chad Ochocinco will be paid $6 million. If they do not and Chad leaves Cincinnati, the team still owes him $3.5 million. Chad reflected on returning for a possible 11th season.
When asked if he would like to be back next year for an 11th season in Cincinnati, Ochocinco said: “I don’t know. I hope. Yeah, why not? I’ve been here this long.”
Ochocinco is having the best season in the past three years, on pace to record over 83 receptions for nearly 1,000 yards receiving. Still, the 32-year old will fall short of the 93 receptions, 1,374 yards receiving and nearly nine touchdowns touchdowns he averaged per season between 2003-2007.

i don't care if haters want to hate
I love OchoCinco, and hope he comes back next year under a new OC. He’s not done, and he hasn’t lost a step, to anyone who thinks so….guess what, i don’t care. And BTW i LOVE the comment he just made about how we should be aggressive w/our playcalling and take what we want instead of allowing the defense to dictate what we do….go see s sports shrink in the offseason and come to OTA’s Chad, gotta stay hungry not complacent.
It depends
Do we get the Chad from the Indy game? Or the Chad from the Steelers game?

I sure hope so
Seriously though…. lets change the name back to Johnson Chad…. this ocho business has gone on long enough.

I want Chad back with a different OC.
If Brat stays, i don’t care anyways b/c I not staying here to watch. Brat sucks and if he’s here next year I’m gone until he is.
Preferably getting rid of Brat now so the new OC and offense can work on next years performance.
Hmm
I’ve been thinking that if Brat leaves, Zampese will be promoted.
Unfortunately, I don’t think he’s a better option. But, I guess it’s better than Brat?!?!?!

A pet monkey would be better than Brat. Zampese, by definition, is not a pet monkey.
Also, don’t be too sure whomever the new coach is doesn’t have his own plans for what OC to bring in.
While a pet monkey might be better or might not
there would definitely be more variety in play calling.

You're funny
You think the new coach will have input on who to bring in? Are you serious?
Remember this guy, his name is Mike Brown. He owns the team and makes final decisions.

The head coach has no options who the surrounding coaches are
The OC will be whoever MB wants it to be
bratt and zampese need to be fired
hell with letting them leave. fired.

Chad is worth 6 mln
Especially compared to the 14 million that was paid to Coles and Bryant. I would Resing TO as well. Unless we are going to completely rebuild the offense.

I don’t know if Chad is worth the $6 mil. I do know he’s not worth paying him to go away. Keep him for another year and hope we have a competent coaching staff next year who can get the most out of him and whomever else is still around.
He is in the top 25 recievers in yards over the past 25 games.
There are a fair amount of recievers making more who are lower on the list. Darious Heyward-Bey comes to mind as does Roy Williams.

I agree
6 million for chad is a bargin. Top WR these days are costing 8 or 9 million a season. Even ones that are not that good. Its been another down year and he can still have a 1000 yards. For 2/3 the price you can pick it up and at least trade im if you want. Unfortunatly I think TO will also be able to get 5 or 6 in FA after his good year. Don’t know if we can keep both.
hope we keep him
call it a coin flip if he comes back in 2011. don’t see brown keeping anything that costs him over league minimum if 2011 turns into a strike year or a rebuilding season before it starts.

It's not even 6 million for Chad. It's 2.5 million. Just pointing that out, seems some above are putting the question as if he's worth 6 mil.
I don’t think he’s worth a dollar if he plays like he has for the vast majority of this season.
How will Chris Carpenter explain this to his children?

Very true... We will aready owe him 3.5 if we let him walk. So really we'd be getting paying an additional 2.5 million.
Which is about what he’s worth the way he’s playing. I say keep him and see if we can get him to retire in stripes.

I do have to say, in response to myslef and after rational thought,
that last week was enough for me to say bring him back. Still looked so good. Just a matter of getting his head on straight, I guess. So I’d say no Marvin, bring him back. If Marvin’s still here, cut bait. Those two are just not made for each other, or so it seems.
How will Chris Carpenter explain this to his children?
serious Grizzly?
Marvin might be the only other person besides TO and Carson that Chad listens to AND respects (not sure why). But Marvin has been like a father figure to Chad in many ways, IMO he hasn’t been as hard on him as he should have been at times, but he does a very good job of mentally containing Chad.
Why?
Why, Chad?
You’ve got boatloads of money enough to buy your girlfriend 10 carats.
Why the fuck would you stay in Mike Brown’s hellhole?
You might catch on someplace and get to win a playoff game or god forbid a Super Bowl. Why stay in Cincy?

that's exactly what I figured he would be thinking
and I still think if he isn’t a Bengal next year, he’s a Patriot….
