Post-Game Open Thread: Bengals Lose
The Bengals are pretty bad at football. Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown 4 straight touchdown passes, and I'm leaving, so here's your postgame thread.

by Mike Brown?
That’s almost as funny as this game
Mike Brown needs to be fired
or just die soon.

Until the latter happens, it's just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Yep
I’m going to deactivate my account here.
I hope Mike Brown dies soon or sells the team. Good luck to ya’ll. Go Reds!

hard to find words for this one, keeping it simple is best.
1) we lost.
2) we suck.
3) we earned this.
4) all of the above.

At halftime the Bills coaches did something.
At halftime our coaches were miserable bastards.

If you take a dollar from Mike Brown, or give a dollar to Mike Brown, you are asking for misery. He is poison.
this is the one game i wanted them to win this season
thanks guys, you really played well for that half. too bad the game actually lasts for twice that amount of time
For here all are one
I'll be rooting for the Jets next week....
…they’re fun to watch. Epic comeback just now.
Me too
It’s time to pick a new team.
I’m picking the Jets.

It's a shame there isn't a great #1 pick in the draft this year
because we would have been first in line to screw up his career.

Below Average:
—Defense
—Coaching
—Offensive Line
—Quarterback
—Special Teams
—Drafting
Bottom Five:
—Offensive Coordinator
—Medical Staff
—Practice Facilities
Worst:
—General Manager
—Scouting
i'd be a fool to disagree with you
sums up what ails this franchise annually.
"wherever Brad St. Louis is and Shayne Graham is about to be." -R.F. Mehl
I'd move Offensive Coordinator to the "worst" category, personally.

I’d move OC to worst
I’d move drafting to bottom five
Offensive line might be near bottom five.
I, personally, still feel Palmer is certainly above average but we can never know with a rotten OL and other issues just listed above.
Now THOSE are some lovely coconuts
Carson:
I think could be listed as “average” rather than below average.
I think he can be successful with a very good offensive line, but I think you could say that about many, many quarterbacks…even some backup QB’s. Shit, I may be back to listing him as below average.
Where are you...
“Mike Zimmer should be the head coach” guy?
At this point let's make Brat the head guy.
It’d be a win-win. Either it’ll continue to be a comedy of errors or we’ll have someone else calling the plays.
mike brown is nero to this franchise
he should make brat the headcoach. and have bratt turned into his eunuch she-male lover while he’s at it..

I said this earlier
given ONE caveat:
He is not HC/OC. At least it means there is a new offensive coordinator
Now THOSE are some lovely coconuts
I have to watch the game replay on NFL network,
but I’m not excited to try to continue to back up my theory. I’ll (maybe) get back to you. Keep in mind I’ve never thought much of him as a schemer or an in-game adjustment coach.

I do think the problems that ail the defense and the team are much bigger than Zimmer, but at this point he’s not doing much to earn serious consideration, let alone keep his DC position. If I were more optimistic I’d like to say “aim higher”, but we know Mike Brown won’t. Wouldn’t be surprised if Zimmer was the head coach by tomorrow.
Well, it might not be the worst.
I’ve said all along that I actually think Zim would be a better head coach than DC. The HC job plays to his strengths and largely minimizes his weaknesses, which were (presumably) highlighted today.

They hold the Colts to less than their average..
and then give up 49 ! (49!!!) to the Ryan Fitzpatrick. WHAT A PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A FOOTBALL TEAM. FIRE SOMEBODY!!!!!!!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!
"Ryan, Things in here don't react too well to bullets." - Marko Ramius
What's the point anymore?
20 years and now ANOTHER rebuilding project under Mike Brown? There are maybe 5 players on this roster worth holding onto and there’s not a chance in the world of luring any top level coaching talent into town. When is the next stadium lease standoff supposed to be? I say let them leave. Oklahoma City might be desperate enough or St. Louis if they end up losing the Rams. It s just absolutely not worth anyone’s time to be a fan of this team anymore.
can we trade the Bengals for the Rams?
at least they have some talent.

Ive defended Marvin in the past and even last week wanted to retain him...
I cant stick up for him any longer…he needs to go,Brat should have gone a long time ago. Zimmer was out coached today also. Carson Palmer threw 2 horrible picks that had fuck all to do with scheme or WR route confusion, and more with his failure to see the field and stare down passes. In the 2nd half today if TO made a catch Palmer decided to throw to him exclusively, later he did the same to Shipley. Cedric Benson…hold on to the football for f’ sake. Fuck the whole shower…Only Jordan Shipley can keep his head up after that.
As for our all powerfull owner?GM…he is the reason I feel completely jaded, this guy couldnt build with stickle bricks nevermind an NFL team. He will never get a GM in and never run this team like a proffesional organisation…why should I bother following them…even though I know I will watch on Thursday….Dammned Fool
sad part of the story
brown is in his mid 70s. he’s not about to step aside this far into his ‘career’ as the bengals gm.
the great thing is, mike’s records as gm will become his legacy to the nfl. nobody will ever lose 200 games faster nor will they win 100 games slower.
"wherever Brad St. Louis is and Shayne Graham is about to be." -R.F. Mehl
If he stops being GM
It’s because he’s retired altogether. You’re right that he won’t relinquish that power at this point. The question is how long he feels like working anymore in general. It’s a demanding business, and he might be tired of it. But he’ll never give up his decision-making power as long as the team is his.
It's time to sink or Zim.

Even then, that won't matter.
He’s handed down the incompetence to his daughter, demonstrating that football knowledge skips at least two generations in the Brown Family.
I also do not see ANY reason not to fire Marvin Lewis immediately.
Yes his contract’s up and it doesn’t matter, but you’re obviously going to give Zimmer a look as the new HC so why not let him coach the rest of the season in an interim role so you have SOME kind of gauge on whether or not he can handle the job? You’ve already paid Marvin. You know Zimmer is itching for the opportunity. It’s not like you have to spend a single extra cent and you send the message to the team and the fans that you’re willing to actually DO something.
it won't fix the problem
it starts with mike. anything less, won’t address the main issue.
"wherever Brad St. Louis is and Shayne Graham is about to be." -R.F. Mehl
I didn't say anything about fixing the problem.
I just said that there’ no reason NOT to now. Which means if Mike Brown doesn’t, which he probably won’t, it will just be a blatant statement that he doesn’t care. Which, as far as I’m concerned, means I have no reason to pay any attention to or spend any money on his football team anymore.
he's refused to fix the problem of the gm and scouting dept for 19 years
we pretty much accepted mike don’t care about the product on the field a long time ago.
"wherever Brad St. Louis is and Shayne Graham is about to be." -R.F. Mehl
Good to see they learned from there mistakes...Jackson last run to the outside that went down the sideline
looked helluva like the bust run fit against the Brownies…
This camel can still carry some straw
Of course, that won’t be the case when we decide to draft busts-in-waiting Cam Newton or Pryor.
Nah...Carloina will get him.
And he’ll be the next Matt Ryan. We’ll end up with some overpriced offensive tackle to line up opposite Fatty McBroken-Foot over there.
Claussen's a backup.
If Luck’s as good as they say he his coming up on the draft SOMEONE will take him #1, and I think we’ll just play ourselves out of the #1 spot. Barely.
They might.
I don’t think they should, b/c he’s a 2nd round rookie with 1st round talent, but they’ll be getting a new coach soon. New regime, new QB. The next Carolina HC will get his guy sometime soon.
It's time to sink or Zim.

They have the tiebreaker now.
So technically, you could say our record is actually worse.
Win a ring without the king! Cavs=2011 champs?
Except they're still ahead in the draft.
The draft doesn’t use tiebreakers in the same way the playoffs do. It goes by strength of schedule, and ours was hard. That means we won’t get as good a pick.

yes
the jags apparently had a bad couple of drafts because of some gm issues. (which isn’t surprising to any cincy fan since we’ve dealt with a bad gm for 19 years now).

Unbelievable. How many more ways can we find to lose games. People are beginning to laugh at my Bengals cap and I live in England. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
This goes to show you that talent doesn't count for shit.
What counts for shit is having coaches with winning mentalities.
On a team with T.O., 85, Andre Smith, Pacman, Tank, Jerome Simpson
It couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of guys.
Superbowl baby!!! Lets do it. What a team. Marvin lewis and brat are the best keep those 2.
Bengals 2010. Road to the Superbowl
I will wait for an analysis.
Seems like quite the meltdown. This is pretty much the same team that had tons of heart last year. Show me the break down of stats by quarter and let us see what happened. I might even slog through the NFL rewind to see for myself. I think Lewis is the best coach we have ever had in the Mike Brown era and we will not get a better one so fire or not fire? That is a tough question.
I cannot listen to the press conferences this week.
Because they’ll blame the injuries less than a week after Indy cleanly beat us with almost all of their skill position players out.

Wow
Had no rooting interest in this game, but it sounds like perhaps Carson Palmer has hit a wall psychologically. There are some really good players on the Bengals but not where they are needed the most. Is there one guy on the team who will get in other players’ faces and get them going? (other than T.O.)
Gimp?
My knowledge of American slang not great but will go with dork for the moment
all the american vernacular you could ever want to know (and then some)
a gimp is:
(1) a derrogatory term for someone that is disabled or has a medicial problem that results in physical impairment. (2) An insult implying that someone is incompetent, stupid, etc.

I swear, if I have to enter another season hearing about the promise of Palmer or that it’s not his fault, im going to puke.
I like Marvin, but I swear there is a losing stink on this franchise and the only way to get it off is to assassinate mike brown, fire Marvin, fire bratshitski, cut Palmer, cut TO and oho and start over.
This team and franchise completely suck. Draft luck and cross fingers
Hi fans it Brandon Roy.
And ME.....LaMarcus Aldridge
I'd rather have Mallet in the middle of the 1st. Trade 1st pick to a middle of the draft team and draft Mallet!!!!!!
IMO...the jury is still out on him
I want to see what he can do for a full season when healthy

then draft more lineman to take his place
just because one guy gets hurt, it doesn’ t mean you do not draft that position. Wait…are you Mike Brown?

What I just did with my old NFL-replica Carson Palmer jersey
After the game today, where my heart was cut out by the apathetic losers that are the Bengals, I took matters into my own hands:
I have 2 dogs that needed a walk. So, I cut 2 8’’x8’’ swatches from the front-bottom of my jersey, and used them to pick up my dogs’ shit.
Anyone want to see the pics? Looks better than Carson did – and I finally did something good with my Bengals jersey.

10 steps to success
1. Fire Darrin Sh*thead, special teams coach. Today.
2. Fire Bob Bratkowski. Today.
3. Lose every game from here on out.
4. Blow up Denny’s when the Brown family goes in for there grand slam meals tomorrow morning
5. Let Marvin go on to greener pastures, make Mike Zimmer head coach.
6. Wade Phillips as new Def. Coordinator.
7. Build a practice bubble.
8. Expand the scouting department by 15 members
9. Hire a potential GM from a classy, well-run NFL team
10. Draft Andrew Luck first in the draft.

Note to all the NFL teams in general
Play some damn defense! Defenses look faster, but also dumber, than ever.
I didn't get to see the game. How as Fitzpatrick?
And how did Dunlap play?
Moisture is the essense of wetness, and wetness is the essense of beauty.
OK - Reality time
The Bengals are going to exceed my preseason pick of 5-11.
I actually had this as a winnable game in the preseason.
The Bengals are ensconsed (sp) in the number 2 poisition in the draft behind the Panthers (who would have to lose twice for the Bengals to move to the number one spot).
Do I have any solutions? Only if anyone remembers what I wrote in the preseason about this team (but you do not) before being run out of here as a realist, then you know my gameplan.
PS – my draft board has Andrew Luck in the one spot and AJ Green in the two position. Oh goody – another primadonna receiver.

Doc says it best:
They haven’t played four quarters properly all year. Not all year. Carson Palmer said after the game, "We did a better job today of guys being in the right spots (and) lining up in the right places.’’
Hey, let’s throw ‘em a parade. A standing O for all the guys who, in Week 11 of the season that includes offseason workouts, OTAs, summer camp, five preseason games and 10 weeks of actual contests, now are lining up in the right places.
The rest is here.
