Post-Game Open Thread: Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets

The Bengals probably lost, but at least we got to see Chad Ochocinco throw a pass. Use this thread to bemoan how bad the Bengals are after the game ends, or whatever you want to do.

Special teams baby! 17 point swing today.

How will Chris Carpenter explain this to his children?

by Grizzlyfox on Nov 25, 2010 11:16 PM EST reply actions

you are an idiot

special teams??? i guess palmers performance was good. it was awful. anyone qb in this league or sitting at home watching this shit team could do better. wake up. this whole team blows….

by BengalsBungalsWhoDey! on Nov 25, 2010 11:42 PM EST up reply actions

Haha!

The special teams literally swung the game by 10 points, and then on one drive the Jets had to go 10 yards to score a TD.
It’s nice to have the facts on your side!

How will Chris Carpenter explain this to his children?

Yup.

Not the only cause of today’s loss but definitely leading the pack by several lengths.

by BeerRun on Nov 26, 2010 12:32 AM EST up reply actions

Yep, game’s about to be over… Carson Palmer officially sucks, as a USC homeboy I hate to admit it, but this guy is just awful. Did you guys see the pick he threw to Cromartie in traffic? I’d rather see what Dan LeFevour can do. I don’t know what’s worse: the offensive line or the defensive line

by Albert K on Nov 25, 2010 11:24 PM EST reply actions

No it was and carson sucked today.

and actuall both picks you could say that it was into triple coverage too. There were 3 DB’s there. Not including all the high throws and telegraghed throws.

by WHYUS!! on Nov 25, 2010 11:59 PM EST up reply actions

His worst game of the season. Not sure how people are having trouble understanding that Palmer wasn't good,

but the special teams laid up an egg only matched in ineptitude by that Pittsburgh game, which I thought was unmatchable.

Heck, PIT game may have actually been worse, which is saying a lot.

Carson is getting knocked on his ass

You would think that he would get mad and get on his Oline. That’s what is pathetic.

by WHYUS!! on Nov 25, 2010 11:31 PM EST reply actions

this team is a joke

if anyone is still a beleiver in this team, just outside and shoot yourself. you should all be embarraased to support this team. i am so sick of them. our coach is an idiot and our qb is done like last night dinner.
this is no reason to say anything good about this team. they all suck………….i have suffered long enough!!!!!

agreed

he is so stupid………..i cant wait to hear his press conference…oh wait…..i know what he will say already…..

Yep!

" It was a tough loss. We did some good things today. We did some not so good things today that we have to go back and fix. We didn’t execute very well and we need to get back and do it. We will go back and take a look at the game and asses those things accordingly. We need to get back to work."
Does that sound familiar?

cut any player that was smiling after that game....

this franchise if full of losers that are satisfied with losing.

checking in

Of course, the thing that happens is the offense likes to play a magic trick on us. They seem to forget that the only reason we do good, if that they can play past the mistakes they make. When we decide we want some points, they check in and haul some to get down the feild. Then, they figure they just want to go back to being an average offense. Average offenses can’t make up for the types of mistakes we make. Either (a) get someone to seriously crack down on the mistakes, that are multiple choice by this point or (b) get the offense to play like they are the determining factor of this game, cause well, they are.

Heeeeey, Ochocinco, he's a good guy, no?

by bill schwab on Nov 26, 2010 12:03 AM EST reply actions

i didn't see the whole game

but i saw carson throw into some really green situations. he has had a terrible year. really bad decisions. not sure what has happened to his judgement.
it is time to change coaches. give zimmer the team for the rest of the year. see what happens.

by andyfrombrooklyn on Nov 26, 2010 12:16 AM EST reply actions

Why isnt Palmer cussing out his O line?

The Offensive line is horrible. How can carson throw any good passes when he has no time to throw the ball, it’s been like this since after the 2005 season and why hasnt anyone done anything about it? I watch other teams and their QB has all day to throw, but Palmer always has someone on his ass. When But Palmer threw some horrible passes into triple coverage when he had time to throw. and why is bob bratkowski still a damn coach? Hasn’t he been in cincinnati since the 90’s when the bengals where horrible but they still kept him around? The defense played good today except on special teams.

by JungleFever on Nov 26, 2010 12:16 AM EST reply actions

the red flag situation

unacceptable. marvin is a nice guy. but it is time.

Westhoff’s special teams are always the best in the league…you can add D Simmons to the list of coaches who have to go…Cosby fielded three punts inside the 10 today…unreal!

im done

i cant watch anymore. we screw it up no matter how good we’re playing. pitt, colts, jets, none of those games were unwinnable going into the fourth quarter.

actually found a good way to describe the Bungals here:

http://garbagetimesports.squarespace.com/nfl/2010/11/25/reflections-from-a-day-of-turkey-and-football.html

and no, its not “awful”

by C.Reid-D on Nov 26, 2010 12:29 AM EST reply actions

Holy #$^#! I see what caused the call now. The ball is doing a crazy, whacky tumbly spin on its way down.

As it passes by Caldwell, it gives one of those hard spins, and creates the illusion that it hits him. I mean, if it hit him, it would have landed on his face mask, and surely he would have felt that.

Wow. Terrible call. Terrible non challenge.

its on marvin for not tossing the red flag

his lack of challenge ended the game for us.

Carson Palmer

Palmer threw 2 interceptions. Palmer got sacked alot. Is it his fault or the offensive lines fault or both? Carson Palmer is the best QB the Bengals have had since Boomer Esiason. Im afraid to replace Palmer because what if we get another Akili Smith? He was the number one draft pick and he was horrible.

by JungleFever on Nov 26, 2010 12:36 AM EST reply actions

I agree

you can cut palmer after the season and save 53 million that doesn’t count to the cap. but who replaces him.

by BigJungle on Nov 26, 2010 12:55 AM EST up reply actions

if the nfl doesn't have a salary cap

brown will start using junco players (and some just out of high school) to keep his payroll low.

carson's worst season. he is bottom 5 qb at this point.

all year palmer’s killer int’s are hard to defend or understand.
he is also frequently off target and or not on the same page with recievers. one who he has played with for several years. a rookie tight end has verbally attacked him on the field during the course of the game. so have the two veteran wide recievers.
there have been some beautiful pass plays too this year but always interrupted by the above.
he was outplayed by his former backup two weeks ago. a former backup who did not have t.o., chad, gresham, shipley, and cedric benson to work with.
carolina, san fransisco, arizona, minnesota. miami. worse qb situation. the rest better. o.k. he is # 6 from bottom.

by andyfrombrooklyn on Nov 26, 2010 9:09 AM EST up reply actions

Hold me back josh kirkend bc I am about to go off. F marv, f’em, fffffFf’em. Fire that POS and let zim play head coach for 7 games to get the feel for things before we give him the reins next year. If “red flag in my pocket” marv hadn’t lost the locker room yet, he has now. He quit on us the second he didn’t throw the red f’in flag on caldwells no touch. He doesn’t touch it when he is a wr, why would he do it now on special teams. I was such a proud bengals fan after the chris henry special on cbs…. For all of 9 hours until marv didn’t throw the stinkin red flag on a game turning play. I am on level 5 of pisstivity and I got level 6 in my sights. G.D. It! I want some butts (no homo, that’s top gun) F!

I told you OC is fixing games

Marvin Lewis – Calls Random time outs and does not challenge because he threw his flag to call the first time out

Marvin – use B Scott on Goaline up the middle plays and use Benson on 2nd and long 50 x to get 2 yds max. Use Caldwell to come in and devistate further

Brat – Mr. 2nd down run 3rd down pass. Benson 1 yd gain.
He must have realized after the 6th time in a row on 2nd down and 6 + Benson’s longest gain was 2. hmmm. 53 tries on 2nd and 6 + 3 first downs total.

The Fix is in. The Story will be told in years to come if anybody still cares

I agree

They keep running the same plays that dosent work over and over again. Im sick and tired of it. Benson dosent get any yards but they keep giving him the ball, I dont get it. Who’s calling these plays?

by JungleFever on Nov 26, 2010 5:02 PM EST up reply actions

How about Zimmers terrible scheming

Way to many time to play man coverage.

Leaving one on one Jonathan Wade (a loser we picked up Monday) against Holmes and Edwards. It was almost funny how bad Zimmer planned out this game.

What do you do when there's no way out? Find a way to get deeper in it.

by jimbasa on Nov 26, 2010 9:23 AM EST via mobile reply actions

He played pretty well for only being here since Monday

And again it wasn’t the defense, they played well. Well enough to give this pathetic offense a chance. This was all Carson and special teams fault.

by WHYUS!! on Nov 26, 2010 10:01 AM EST up reply actions

It was the team as a whole

Every aspect of our team sucked yesterday. The defense was playing against one of the least explosive offenses in the NFL. So don’t come out here and tell me that the defense played well because they didn’t.

What do you do when there's no way out? Find a way to get deeper in it.

by jimbasa on Nov 26, 2010 10:17 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

Whatever, think what you want

I think the defense did well yesterday and you are so pissed that all you can do is see red. This wasn’t the least explosive offense in the league. They really do have a descent offense.
As for a team as a whole, they stopped playing together early in the season. So I will come here and at least give some credit when credit is due. When it’s due….

by WHYUS!! on Nov 26, 2010 10:29 AM EST up reply actions

Why throw the red flag?

When you’ve already thrown in the towel.

It’s not enough in the NFL to gameplan for two quarters and then look to ‘wing’ it in the second half. The Jets saw all the Bengals had in the first half and then picked them off in the second.

Defense played admirably through injuries but remain inconsistent. Offense was as usual. Special teams are rubbish – also as usual.
