Are the Bengals the Worst Team in the NFL?
Let's disregard the records of the Bengals and the Panthers for the purpose of this article. However, let's not disregard the game between the Bengals and the Panthers. The Bengals won that game by a score of 20-7 and they played against rookie Jimmy Clausen in his first ever NFL start. Unless my memory is failing me, I remember the Bengals not looking so hot in that game.
Now, let's look at the Browns. Two of the teams that they have beaten this season are the Patriots and the Saints. Does that mean that the Browns are better than the Patriots or Saints? Absolutely not. If the Patriots/Saints played the Browns 10 times, they would win nine of the games. It was just a good game by the Browns and a bad week for the other team. If we combine the fact that Clausen was starting for the first time and the fact that sometimes teams just have bad weeks, is it possible to assume that the Bengals victory over the Panthers was a fluke? It's possible.
So, if that game was a fluke, then we could probably assume that the win over Baltimore was a fluke too. I feel the same way about the Ravens and Bengals as I do the Patriots and Browns. Let the two teams play 10 times and see what happens. I promise, the Ravens will come out on top.
Then we can factor in the talent level. There is no doubt in my mind that the Bengals are the worst most talented team in the NFL. The Panthers don't have Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco, Jordan Shipley and Jermaine Gresham catching passes, Cedric Benson running the ball and Carson Palmer throwing. Not many teams have that much talent loaded up at their skill positions and I can almost guarantee that if any other team other than the Bengals had that much talent, they would have already won the super bowl.
So, considering that certain wins are flukes and the Bengals have way, way too much talent to have a 2-11 record, do you think it's fair to say that the Bengals are actually the worst team in the NFL?
Who would win if the Bengals and Panthers played 10 times. Would the Panthers win most of them making the Bengals the worst team in the NFL?
What do you think?

I think the Panthers would be an easier team to turn into a contender. They have talent on the offensive line, good running backs, and some alright talent on defense. I think with a QB the Panthers could have won a few more games, and with a little bit of defensive help they would be a pretty good team. But as they are this season I think the Bengals would win 7 out of ten.
Nope...
…Against a team like the Panthers, out of 10 games, it would be doomed to finish in a tie.

If the Bengals played the Ravens every week...
the Bengals would be undefeated. If there is one team the Bengals have historically been able to beat, it’s that soulless team from Baltimore.

Marvin needs to step down and over
Over the years Marvin Lewis has said fans and media don’t know enough to judge what his team is doing. Carson Palmer’s favorite audible is the running back up the middle for no gain. Every defense in the NFL knows it better then 1/2 of the Bengle’s offense. Fitzpatrick played better then Palmer period. Mike Brown needs to be impatient and unsupportive for a change
The Bengals are the worst franchise. That's for damn sure.
At least Carolina fans can take comfort in the fact that they will be back to the playoffs soon and will rebuild. They could potentially have Cowher and Luck going forward. How awesome and exciting woudl that be? Unfortunately for us, we’re fans of the Bengals and we all know that as long as the Brown family remains in control that there is no hope.
Favre's streak just ended, maybe ending whatever curse has afflicted this team.
think about it, the Bengals were 3-0 before they lost to an unknown backup Brett Favre back in 1993. Since then, Brett Favre has not missed a start and the franchise has been awful. I’m predicting the Bengals will go on an unprecedented unbeaten streak starting this week.

But anyway...
I’m not sure that the Bengals are the worst team, but they’re certainly the most disappointing this season.

No
Not te worst talent wise, but the worst where I matters: teamwork, heart, dedication, structure, and discipline.

Darn I chose the 3rd option before I fully read the 4th.
I think you field the best of the reds/bearcats they beat the bengals at this point
How about this....
We trade offensive coaches with the Panthers and I bet we beat them 10 out of 10! By the way…. who is the offensive coach for them? Ah, who cares…. he would still be better than Bratkowski!
What's worrying
Earlier this season there was a post potentially linking John Fox to the Bengals. So you’ve the second worst record in the NFL this season and you look to hire the guy with THE worst record in the NFL. Smart.
Maybe the Bengals end up with the worst record and the Panthers have the second-worst record. It’s still not smart to considering hiring Fox.
Paper Tigers, er Bengals
The talented team argument is flawed for this reason…..they don’t deliver. It all comes down to execution of their assigned collective talents as individuals and ultimately team members for what?…….WINS ! The benchmark in pro sports is wins. The could’da, should’da, would’da trash just doesn’t sell and until they start winning the talent hype is pointless to consider with these paper tigers…..er Bengals
Starts with coaching
