Frustrated With Losing: Ryan Clark Says Chad Ochocinco Almost In Tears Before Game Against Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh Steelers' defensive back Ryan Clark joined 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh during their morning show on Wednesday to talk about Sunday's win over the Bengals among other things -- such as actually attending a Justin Beiber concert. One topic Clark was asked about was about Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, who spoke to Clark just before kickoff.

Ryan Clark said:

"Honestly, dude was almost in tears. He was like, 'Ryan, man, I just want to win. I want to know what it feels like to come into camp and know that I have a chance to win the Super Bowl. I want to know what it feels like to come out every week and feel like we're the team that’s supposed to score more points.' … That spoke volumes to me about the person and the public persona as opposed to what they really want to do. His words were, 'I would be a number three option if I could get to the playoffs and I have a chance to win the Super Bowl.'"

It's really hard not to believe this. Ochocinco, who has seen only TWO winning seasons in his ten-year career, might have a flair for the dramatic and theatrics, but he's always been a competitor.

What a week. First Owens orchestrates a blame game that goes from ownership, coaches and to the players. Then Carson Palmer says he could see himself in another uniform next season to Ochocinco in tears, talking to an opponent, before a rivalry game.

No, we're decaying

We’re not rebuilding (as in, making a strong effort to be a consistent playoff team) until Mike Brown steps away from the owner’s box, and maybe not even then.

Ann Arbor is a trollop.

rebuilding would actually imply progress for the future, to which I see none until Brown relinquishes control of the team’s operations, which he stated he would not. let’s face facts, once contracts are up, i honestly don’t blame any players for wanting out of town, even taking less money to go to a winning, well-run franchise. say bye to jj, benson, owens, ocho and palmer. say hi to more busts like simpson and smith. it still kills me that they preached character when passing on desean jackson and picking simpson, but then drafted andre smith the next year … is it any wonder players in the nfl and the media think this franchise is a joke?

There is absolutely no hope for this frnachise.

Even when Katie takes over its just going to be more of the same. i am basing this off she has been taught by daddy on how this franchise works. I could be wrong but I highly doubt it. This is a family business to them. It’s all about the money and always will be!

Probably not.

It was pointed out to me recently that Katie and Troy are lawyers. They’re not football people; they’re not even businesspeople. They’d want to continue running the family business, but it’s unlikely that they’d actually try to run the team the way Mike does. They’d hire a GM. I’m almost sure of it.

Same old Cyanide, new look.

Hopefully

She learned from her daddy about as well as her father learned from his.

Seriously...

…you think there’s never been a time when Katie said to herself, “Grandpa woulda NEVER done it this way!”

Do some research on North Korea and find out why the Kim family will NEVER voluntarily relinquish control. It’s eerily similar to what we’ve seen with the Browns. In both cases, regime change would most likely require military intervention.

But as far as The Ocho's crocodile tears are concerned...

…this is what ALL diva football players do in the latter stages of their careers…“I just want to win, I don’t care if the spotlight’s on me or not, blahbity blahbity blah…” See: Dillon, Corey.

To that end (Bengals leaving the sinking ship to go to the Pats and win the Super Bowl), couldn’t ANY of us see Chad catching balls from Tom Brady and hoisting the Lombardi?

Out of control, this is. See the light at the end of the tunnel, I do not. Speaking like Yoda, I have suddenly started. Know why, I do not. Typing, I shall stop.

wouldnt you want to win?

He’s made his millions, only thing left to do is win. Can’t fault him for that!

Dillon was about the farthest thing from a diva. He’s a guy who left everything he had on the field, carrying the entire team on his shoulders for 6-7 years. Huge seasons behind awful offensive lines (Rod Jones!). Where does this idea come from that a player from Seattle should remain blindly loyal to a franchise in Cincinnati that essentially wasted his talents with bumbling move after bumbling move? “Look at this guy…he’s tired of 4 win seasons. What a bad apple!”

Dillon clearly had the last laugh, unless he found 1600 yards and a Super Bowl trophy with a real NFL franchise less enjoyable than taking handoffs from Scott Mitchell and Akili Smith.

Get rid of the guy already

Sick of him. Said it before and I’ll say it again: Chad is the most overrated player inthe NFL.

by Anthony Cosenza on Dec 15, 2010 6:12 PM EST reply actions

I think he makes the

most impressive catches year in and year out over almost any receiver. The problem is his inconsistency, and I think that comes from the life he leads outside the NFL plus his frustration from being stuck (he wanted out and couldn’t) in a losing organization.

What do you do when there's no way out? Find a way to get deeper in it.

by jimbasa on Dec 15, 2010 7:53 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

He's a sideline wizard and probably has a few more really good catches that weren't called as such because the refs couldn't overturn it.

He won’t get in the hall though, just because he was a Bengal for life.

Joe Reedy: "Supposedly Marvin could not find his flag to challenge the call. I am not kidding. #bengals"

Just pinning for a new job...

OCHO is just working all the angles and making a case why the Steelers shoud pick him up next year!!!

"Bratkowski-- Off with his head!!!"

The Ocho

Put him in NY with Manning, hes a superstar, 1500 yds, 10 td,s every year, put him with Phillip Rivers 1700 and 12 td,s. He has been in a shitty system for his entire carrer and who ever said above that he makes the prettiest catches in the Nfl is so true. None Better. Bottom line is , The Ocho has been under Mike Freaking Brown his entire career, NUFF SAID>
