"It could be a completely different wide receiver corps next year," Caldwell said. "I think we've got a lot of young guys who want to go out there and prove themselves and step up there. We're just hungry and do whatever it takes. Now I want to solidify it, let them know this is my position and I'm here to stay, and not be in and out and falling back."

He'll be a permenant fixation
On the inactive list. Here’s what he can’t do well: kick off returns, pint returns, special teams defense, run routes, catch balls longer than 10 yards, scare a defense, and keep his eyes from bulging out of his head.

I dunno about pint returns...
What do you do when there's no way out? Find a way to get deeper in it.

I'm NEVER going to root against a bengals player.
If he can pull it together, more power to him. He’ll have a chance this 2 weeks to show something. And if he shows off to the new coaching staff next season and think he’s the #2 I have confidence in him.
Hopefully my picture doesn't show my bias.
boo yeah
I love the fighting words from Caldwell. Now, it’s just put up or shut up.

I like the idea of
letting Chad and TO walk, and starting over with younger, more motivated players, provided we get a new coaching staff. Otherwise, it’s all for naught.
if getting rid of chad means guaranteed $$ for JoJo then i'm all for it.
if not, we’re idiots. there’s no way we can replace chad’s level of talent.
my nightmare 2011
chad, jo-jo, and lewis all aren’t bengals anymore.
Brown and Bratt still are bengals.
.. which is the more likely scenario..

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Notice he made no mention of WINNING! Terrific.
He's a guy fighting for a roster spot.
If he was saying we’re going to win games etc.
You would just laugh at him because you would say
“Oh well he’s just fighting to be on the roster he has no right to talk about that yet”
Hopefully my picture doesn't show my bias.
I think Chad will be here next year...
…but Caldwell is right, there is going to be a changing of the guard in the near future. Exactly how it is going to pan out is unclear.
TO is gone for certain, Cosby’s return is far from certain. Contracts up in 2012: Simpson, Caldwell, Ochocinco. Anyone think we’ll be drafting a WR next year?
I didn't realize Caldwell's contract is coming up.
It makes me wonder if we’ll keep Simpson and Caldwell – two under-performers who didn’t have a chance to flourish this year with TO, Shipley and Gresham all here.

i think you guys will be better off without chad i know thats crazy cuz hes so talented but he needs an attitude adjustment
I just want Cosby gone.
He isn’t a receiver (he hasn’t even touched the field) and he sucks at punt returning,

Yea but remove him
When you have a clear upgrade.
Till then he stays.
He was all rookie team last year as a return man.
And he was in last week with a few receptions.
Hopefully my picture doesn't show my bias.
I'm in Cosby's corner
At worst he’s a capable special teams player (good blocker and decent return man). And he always catches passes thrown his way. He had one catch on one target for 11 yards last week. I wish they gave him more of an opportunity.

"Decent return man"
If I see one more fair catch inside the 10, I’m going to start flipping out on people who call him a good returner.
Besides, once A. Jones is back we don’t need Quasby as a returner.

I want to see Caldwell at the #2 spot
I know he’s fast but I’m not sure he’s got the moves for the slot position.

He'll have that spot the next two weeks
You’ll get your chance.

I love Caldwell's spirit.
Take it, it’s yours!

I see better than I hear-Marvin Lewis
With that said does anyone think it’s possible that Chad goes in to a “I WANT OUT OF HERE” rant in the offseason? Sure he’s said a lot of good things through a horrible season while he’s under contract and in the locker room. But I think if we take the option it’s going to piss him off and we may just have 2008 all over again.
