Will The Youth Movement At Wide Receiver Give Carson Palmer A Second Wind For His Career?
Without Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco, Carson Palmer recorded a career-high 157.2 passer rating against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Palmer obviously lost the game, recording three interceptions, two returned for touchdowns. Against the Cleveland Browns, Palmer did just enough not to lose the game, completing 60.9% of his passes. No touchdowns were thrown, but neither were any interceptions. We call that a draw. And against the San Diego Chargers, who came into Sunday's game with the league's best passing defense, Palmer introduces Jerome Simpson -- and reintroduces Andre Caldwell -- in a career game with two receivers that came into Sunday's game with 79 combined receptions in their career.
We've argued for the past month that many of Palmer's struggles are the result of locking into receivers like Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens, forcing passes where he had no reason to make. In the past two games, due to injuries, he's forced to distribute the ball more evenly amongst other receivers. Here's the breakdowns.
| Pass Distribution In Previous Two Games (Browns, Chargers) | ||
| Receiver | Targets | % Of Palmer's Attempts |
| Jerome Simpson | 10 | 23% |
| Andre Caldwell | 11 | 25% |
| Jermaine Gresham | 8 | 18% |
| Jordan Shipley | 5 | 11% |
Let's compare that through the season's first 13 games of the year, with Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens.
| Pass Distribution Through First 13 Games Of 2010 | ||
| Receiver | Targets | % Of Palmer's Attempts |
| Chad Ochocinco | 123 | 25% |
| Terrell Owens | 139 | 28% |
| Jermaine Gresham | 73 | 15% |
| Jordan Shipley | 63 | 13% |
You can make whatever conclusion you'd like. But in the past two games, the passing distribution is squeezing closer together between the first and third receivers, with tight end Jermaine Gresham being that third receiver. Additionally, we visually see Palmer going through his progressions, rather than locking into a receiver like Terrell Owens, which often allowed opposing defenses to follow Palmer's eyes and picking off his pass, or at the very least, generating a pass breakup between three defenders. Twice Palmer launched a deep pass to two different receivers at different points during Sunday's game without the need to worry about accommodating superstar wide receivers.
Again, make whatever conclusion you want. Such as the past two games not being enough to generate a refill of patience in Palmer, who hasn't provided fans with much reason to keep supporting him through this season and even late last year. At the same time, if the past two games gives you a reason to sit back and believe that a new core of wide receivers is just what Palmer needs to rebound into a second wind for his career, I won't blame you for that point of view either.
At the end of Sunday's game, Carson Palmer said, "I felt like a kid." One thing is certain, he looked like his old self because of the kids around him.

Just more proof of what I've been saying
Terrible route running and taking off plays by team tocho. Out classed by the invisible man Jerome Simpson.
There are those who will say that Simpson just had a great day
I would agree, but, is it possible that he has been that good for a while but the ineptitude of out offensive coaching staff just let him slide thru the cracks. No, I am not suddenly on the Simpson band wagon, but you need talent to put together a game like he had.
I think the big thing I took out of this was that Carson was throwing the ball to a spot all day long. These young guys didn’t think they knew better. They ran the route that the play called for and didn’t improvise. Carson threw the ball 65 yds. without apparent effort on the play to Caldwell just before the TD to Simpson. He absolutely drilled the throw to Shipler on his TD pass. It looked like a Nolan Ryan fastball. I swear, I rewound it several times. The ball was fired so fast I couldn’t see it. So much for “Carson doesn’t have a good arm anymore”.
Yea, it was just one game – but it was against the #1 defense in the NFL. Gresham played well, Simpson played well, Caldwell played well and Shipley – well – he was Shipley. Bernard Scott also played well.Benson ran okay but he dropped the rock again. The D rookies are beginning to get it as well. Imagine how good we might be if we had a scouting department and GM and didn’t miss on so many draft picks and had 5-6 players on the field who are upgrades over what we have out there now.
"If we always agree, one of us is not necessary"
And Caldwell was almost there too!
I applauded him after that diving effort. That just strikes me as a play that TO or Chad gives up on, but he was right under it.

Think about it...
Simpson, Shipley, Caldwell and Gresham have all been chomping on the bit to get a chance to show what they could do. Bottom line…THEY WERE HUNGRY! Ocho-stinko and his sidekick Terrell “Alligator Arms” Owens complained and took it for granted that there wasn’t anyone to take their spot. Say good-bye to those two clowns and bring in some new blood.

Nolan and Ryan are easier to spell than Aroldis or Chapman, but even so..........
I said it was fast – not super human fast. But it was fast enough that Shipley caught it with his spleen.
"If we always agree, one of us is not necessary"
One thing that will go unnoticed is the joy Palmer showed.
Did you guys see him joking with Anthony Collins on the sideline at the end of the game? When was the last time you saw Carson smiling and joking with a teammate on the sidelines like that? That’s just one example of this team having fun, which was one of the biggest differences today. These guys were having fun and it showed in their play.
"I bet that sex Bengals fan is really pissed now." -DT3428
Couple people mentioned this in the game thread
Don’t know if it was because he had a fresh batch of receivers, or didn’t have any divas on the field, or that they were on their way to winning two games in a row, but it’s good to see him relaxed and chill, and I’m sure that helped him over the course of today’s game.
This is probably the generic theory and I'm being far from original, but maybe the fact that he was relaxed allowed him to play looser and that's why his throws were better.
"I bet that sex Bengals fan is really pissed now." -DT3428
hmmm...
or didn’t have any divas on the field
Yea… that could very well be it. I unfortunately didn’t get to watch this game, but imagine not having Chad and TO adding tension and anxiety to him continuously throughout the game may have helped him a little…

Off-topic, but anyone have an update on Tolbert?
There wasn’t sound on the TV so I couldn’t get the update on him. I just read that he reportedly has a sprained neck and shoulder. Is this true? If so, how long will it take him to make a full recovery?
The guy is a warrior and I really hope he’s alright. It sucks to see anyone carted off.

Update I saw didn’t say anything about his neck. He’ll miss next week and will be fine for next season.

Good teams build and develop youth and let veterans go once they start hindering the development of new youth. Mike Brown gets this idea that “so and so will retire a Bengal” and he signs people to bloated drawn out contracts instead of trading them for value.
Ocho should have been gone after 2008. Coles never should have been signed. Geathers should have been gone after last year. Odom should be gone after this year. Whitworth’s replacement should already be sitting and learning behind him (Andre Smith? I think he’s an RT for the rest of his career). Carson should be grooming a replacement.
Build through the draft. Keep your team young. Get value (draft picks or new youth) from your veterans. This is how the Patriots have stayed strong for so long.
Hmmm... interesting
Two questions I have on this post and the comments that have followed:
1) Is Carson that much of a push over because he is playing without his two diva wideouts?
2) Why are people anointing Jerome Simpson to god-like status? While his performance was impressive, he has had 4 years to learn the playbook and run the correct routes.

Will this revitalize his career? I doubt it, but it seems he will at least be serviceable. I don’t think he’ll ever be to the level he once was. We also have to keep in mind this is one great game – palmer sucked most of last year but had a great game against a supposedly good bears defense. Need more evidence than this.
by ddbumpus on Dec 27, 2010 12:49 AM EST via mobile reply actions
Agreed
I question Carson’s leadership even more after this performance. A good leader is supposed to rally the troops and also keep guys in check when things aren’t going well. Carson’s exuberance on the field (albeit a breath of fresh air) without Chad and TO means he cannot truly lead players who might have an attitude or when things aren’t going well.
I don’t know if I agree with Chad blocking Jerome Simpson. If you can play you can play but I will say that the Bengals FO and coaching staff aren’t the best talent evaluators. I need to see more out of Jerome. Chad from 2003-2007 was a completely dominant receiver. Let’s not get carried away after one game. But it does give me hope, that with a new offensive coordinator this might be a more complete offense.
I will say that while Carson spread the ball around, he still locked onto his receivers and he didn’t do anything to really keep the safeties, cornerbacks or linebackers in check.

Dude what game did you watch
How can you say he didnt look off safetys and locked on to recievers? How many passes did he throw that were contested? I think your confused because he finally had his recievers get open by running correct routes. With solid protection and people being in the right spots and not worrying about how many balls come there way we saw a relaxed Palmer and the proof is in the performace all around.

Hm?
It took injuries to get Dunlap on the field.
It took fumbles to get Scott on the field more.
It took injuries to get Chris Pressley on the field.
It took injuries to switch to the power running philosophy.
The formula’s pretty simple: if nothing’s working for the Cincinnati Bengals, force them to change, don’t expect them to do it.
And some egos just can’t be contained.
And Carson threw one pass that had any chance of being picked off today. 8/8 passing in the first half isn’t good enough for you? Jeez, I guess the guy can’t catch a break even on a career day.
Joe Reedy: "Supposedly Marvin could not find his flag to challenge the call. I am not kidding. #bengals"
hey Doc
we’re still on pace for Simpson to keep doubling his career stats on a per game basis!
Obviously it can’t keep happening, but kinda ironic considering our comments last week and then the game he had yesterday
The Curse of Bo Jackson: Jan 13th,1991- present day
I don't think anyone here is annointing Simpson
But to ignore his performance yesterday would have been a disservice to him. I am pretty sure we will get the best effort from the Ravens next week though the Steelers pretty well have the division wrapped up. Lets see how the Caldwell, Gresham, Shipley and Simpson quartet look next week. Carson had a very good day as did the defense.
Hey, I don’t know for sure what it means but I do know that I feel just a bit better about the teams chances next year, if we have one ( and I think we will. They will not go a year without taking our money as everyone loses). That quick snap showed that Carson was in the game. That was all him.
As for Chad, when he was dominate he was all about football. That was all he did. He did what he was told and was probably the best route runner in the game for a while. That is not the case anymore. Talent wise I think he and TO both still have it but, take it from an old guy, the older you get the harder you have to work to keep the edge. You didn’t see Jerry Rice pimping himself out on cable. He was about football to the end.
One good game does not get the team out of Fan Ire Prison, but it does get them a cookie with their bread and water and a few more minutes in the yard.
I cannot say this definitively, but it is possible that a lot of Carson’s problem all year was that he tried to make it work. He supported his teammates and didn’t throw them under the bus even when he was being blamed for their failures in many cases. A good leader does that. I was actually impressed with his leadership. Do you realize that we beat a team with the #1 defense and a pretty potent offense by 3 TDs? The last TD was in garbage time and I don’t count it. So, I say here is a cookie, go out and shoot some hoops for another hour – you deserve it. Then, get back i the cell. You are a long way from being released on parole.
"If we always agree, one of us is not necessary"
HUH?
“…he cannot truly lead players who might have an attitude or when things aren’t going well.”
Bottom line, is this really the QB’s responsibility or could it be that this comes under the heading of the coaching staff’s not doing their jobs? Any coaching staff worth their paychecks wouldn’t tolerate the prima-donna “attitudes” like they’ve been tolerated in Cincy.
Mike Martz...
would be a good OC for the Bengals. They need a better coach ala Gruden, Cowher who don’t care about these “Prima Donna” players. You’re out there to win, earn your check and be a great teammate!

I think what we witnessed today
Was a definite rebirth of Carson Palmer to the QB he was before. Last year he didnt put up great #‘s because he had no weapons. This year he has T.O which is an upgrade but has a history of TEAM OBLITERATION and thats what happened. With Chad it is very well known that he is a freelance route runner and isnt a very physical WR. He cant beat a jam. TO and Chad dont respect anybody but themselves either. What this will lead to is giving CP a couple real good WR’s that have speed, can run after the catch(and not fall down), and have good hands. It was nice to see these new WR’s get seperation in thier routes, and do their jobs by running their routes correct. Are Simpson and Caldwell going to be superstars? Who knows, but what I know is that they dont need to be. They just need to be reliable and Carson will get them the ball because he no longer needs to babysit a couple crybabies and he can be the QB we all know he is.
Well said Brian.
"If we always agree, one of us is not necessary"
While I agree with most of what you say...
I don’t agree with T.O.‘s TEAM OBLITERATION as you call it. A good half of these games we lost by less than 10 pts and T.O. has helped us get close. Its easy to say "Oh without TO we would win because he’s a cancer.." Did you see last season, the offense was TERRIBLE besides cedge. Difference from last year to this year? We won those close games. I also think a big difference is the Defense this season. They were dominant last year, when the offense was stagnant, but this year they got their butts kicked in a bunch of times and its hard to play catch up or establish a rhythm when all you do is force balls into WR. I also think Brat got his head out of his ass and called some decent plays yesterday. I mean he threw to gresham a couple times for huge gains(where has that been all season??) It also helped that SD D line could not get off the blocks thus giving time to Palmer
So in review,
1 I think TO is doing just fine (as a matter of fact I applauded him for calling out his coaches-they HAVE done terrible this season
2 its chad who has lost his edge.. I think he’s fallen victim to reality tv/social media and its killing his career.
3. Palmer had plenty of time in the pocket to scan
4. The verdict will be out when we play the ravens with the same offense
Luck for QB
Hue for head coach
It was good to see
The team put forth some sort of winning effort vs a team that is good and had something to play for.
However, today’s performance also clarified and complicated things at the same time. As far as receivers go, TO was already out the door, but the case can now be made that Ocho is expendable as well and not needed. Carson is better without them. Gresham, shipley! Caldwell, Simpson, and a high draft pick WR wouldnt be too bad rolling into next season with.
Carson however, has made things complicated. We obviously aren’t getting Luck, so it’s probably safe to say that we will hold on to Palmer unless somebody is stupid enough to give us a 1st or 2nd round pick for him. Today’s performance is certainly encouraging and makes you wonder where this was the other 15 games, and if it can continue with the WRs that were on the field.
So assuming Carson is coming back, is Marvin Lewis? Bratkowski? (god please no!). Is it a good sign that the offense is coming together with young receivers and the running game of late? Or is it a bad sign that Carson couldn’t get things together when it actually mattered, that the coordinators didn’t see that we had young talented guys rotting on the bench?
The past few weeks have left me very confused. Half-encouraged and half-disgusted. Hopeful for the next season, but also questioning what the hell just happened to this season. Leadership and crunch time poise are obviously huge issues for this franchise. Playing well when it matters most and fulfilling expectations continue to be things not done by anybody associated with the bengals…………..but man it was fun to see them play some good football against a good team today
I guess we roll into next season with Palmer, Benson, the young WRs, Gresham and hope for some improvement on the o-line and hope the the D takes a step forward from where they are now and not a huge step back. Hopefully Brat is gone and also hope that the next draft and free-agent period leaves us in better shape
Who dey!
Hi fans it Brandon Roy.
And ME.....LaMarcus Aldridge
You want the answer to what happened?
The coaches. That’s the true answer. It starts up top and goes all the way down to the playing field. Things weren’t working but the coaches insisted on using the broken parts instead of trying to fix them until the broken parts were literally unusable.

Benson will be gone and I am good with that if Brat is sitting beside him on the bus.
And you can throw in just about all of our Offensive position coaches. We need new blood with new ideas. A good GM would have been paying attention to that because his job would be on the line. When you don’t have to worry about being fired it is easy to get complacent. Nobody can fire MB.

So nobody's proppin Bratkowski?
If you’re gonna praise Palmer’s game then praise Bratkowski too. Palmer played extremely well but his play came at a time when it counts for shit. Did we make the playoffs? No. He has two good games and suddenly Palmer is here to stay? That’s been the problem with the Bengals since Marvin Lewis came to town: settling with mediocrity. Don’t forget what record we have. Don’t forget Marvin Lewis’s overall record. Don’t forget Palmer’s play overall this season and since 06. You can cover the sun with one finger but is that going to solve the problem? I don’t think so. This is why playing for a 1 draft pick was so important. Because we need serious overhaul, from players who can’t play to coaches that can’t coach. And now I’m afraid that because Palmer is executing when it’s too late to execute, will make him and Lewis stay for many years to come. You can’t deal with divas on the field? Bullshit, then change your position in football and in life, because being a QB is being a leader of EVERYONE, including divas. What, Aikman sucked with Michael Johnson on the field? Did Brady suck with Moss on the team? Come on guys. It’s just one freaking game. Wake up and smell REALITY.
What do you do when there's no way out? Find a way to get deeper in it.
by jimbasa on Dec 27, 2010 10:05 AM EST via mobile reply actions
Jim your right,
It’s only two games but there has been something here that shows Carson still has it. Whether or not it’s Brats fault , the WRs fault, or the OLs fault. It probably is all of their faults. But your right I think it’s Marvins fault that he can’t get guys in to play (see outcome last 2 games). There was a season to salvage 8 weeks ago.
Back to the Carson thing.. Carson still shows a lot of skills and looks good at times even when we lose a game. He’s also looked terrible in a lot of games. If Carson was that bad to get rid of, then wouldn’t he look as bad as Derek Anderson, Jake Delhomme, Byron Leftwich, Brady Quinn and any other QB that has had repeatedly bad games week in and week out, year in and year out? None of these QBs showed signs of being any good in the future. Carson seems to still come out of the cellar once in a while with really good games. And I emphasize on good.. This tells me he has still got something left in the tank and with a different OC and Head coach + a definite GM in place (which I think Marvin would be good at) Carson would be consistently good again.
BTW, we really need a GM no matter what happens next year with any player or coach. That’s the first priority.
No, I am not propping Brat. Yesterday was all Carson and the young WRs
Carson is handcuffed as a leader on this team. I have every Bengals game on tape with the exception of the last two. I have watched every game twice and some three times. IMO, at least half of Carson’s ints and incompletions were more the scheme and the performance of the WRs. He had a few notable ints, but everyone does (except Brady) and several were just great plays by the opposing D. Many came from Carson trying to force the ball to TO and Chad who just didn’t make the play. No, I don’t give Carson a pass. He made some mistakes that he needs to be held accountable for, but I saw Peyton, Brees and Rivers do the same thing. Carson is not the reason for our 4 & 11 record.
Most of the plays yesterday were just as predictable as before. The young talent just ran the plays with enthusiasm. The back breaker was the long TD to Simpson. That was all Carson. He saw a slow developing D and called for the quick snap. That was all him – the catch was easy. I am surprised. I don’t often disagree with your take, and even on this post you are making cogent points but a serious overhaul? Have you seen the talent we have on IR? Of course we need to improve but it isn’t like we got blown out in all of those losses. Except for the Pats game we were in every game. Yes, we need to draft another Oline guy or two. We also need a FS, a CB and another pass rusher. But, a lot of our team is playing well enough to win. The question is, can our team, without a full time GM and scouting department separate the wheat from the chaff in the next draft? They did okay last year, I can count at least five players who are contributing but consistently winning teams do that every year. They do not draft high 1st round picks who don’t see the field and they get them into camp on time. That is all MB and Katie and that is where the winning edge is lost here. Prop Bratkowski!!!?? Man, I just cannot get behind that.

I also think a lot of fans here are making Carson not something he is not
He is still a very goo QB IMO. He still has an arm and he still has the talent. I think it entirely possible that his best years are ahead of him. I said the same thing in the middle of our losing streak. Yesterday was only a small validation of my thinking. He threw the ball 65 yards in the air and only slightly over threw Caldwell – and he did it easily. His ball to Shipley was a 100 mph bullet. There is nothing wrong with Carson’s arm. IMO, the team has let him down much more that he has let them down. But, that is just my opinion. We will see if I am right or not. Yes Carson looked terrible at times but he is also the easiest guy to make look terrible. He is the guy with the ball. It is just like a pitcher who gives up a few games with a home run and loses 2-0. If his team scored a few runs he looks great and if they don’t he looks terrible. There are several pitchers with ERAs under 3.5 with losing records. Supporting Carson is not a popular position here but I think what I think.
"If we always agree, one of us is not necessary"
This "play for the #1 pick" thing is absolutely ridiculous.
You can cover the sun with one finger but is that going to solve the problem? I don’t think so. This is why playing for a 1 draft pick was so important
First of all, this team is not devoid of talent. If anything, the last two weeks have proven that there is A LOT of young talent at almost every position. I agree that Marvin has to be held responsible for not putting his best players on the field, but in a lot of cases, those players were playing behind proven vets. Simpson has been waiting 2 years for Chad to get injured. Atkins had to wait for Tank to get injured. Caldwell has been waiting for TO to get injured. It took Dunlap injuries to Fanene and Odom to get on the field. The sky is not falling in Cincinnati.
Secondly, when you say that they should play for a draft pick, you mean that they should throw games. Show me a team “playing” for a draft pick, and I’ll show you a sorry bunch of losers with “0” pride and fight in them. Adding a #1 draft pick to that situation is the medical equivalent of doing a heart transplant on an corpse. This team is, and should be, playing to win out the rest of the year.
This is our year!

Sure…Hawaii got blown out in their bowl game, but this kid was a beast during that game and all season long. He’s the real deal as well and could be a steal in the later rounds as I’m sure other teams will pass him up for players from bigger name schools. Hopefully our eagle eyed “scouting team” will notice him at next year’s draft…

I think this is working out nicely. He’s playing well when it doesnt count, which is good for possible trade value. You know the Browns wont pay him, and he certainly won’t take a pay cut, so this is the best we can get. A good last couple of games to show some teams he has talent still and then part ways with him.. Anyone else agree?

Bradford of STL has brought that team from 1 win to possibly winning the division (even though their record is terrible) I’m not saying any QB is going to fit right in and slug it out to a championship but I think Palmer needs to be shown the door. He was brought in to get us into the playoffs and we all know how that story went.

De'Quan Bowers with..
first pick and Locker, Mallett, Moore with your second round pick. Let Palmer mentor the new guy like Kitna did him. If Palmer stays and the new group of WR’s get more playing time it should be a better year next year.
Say goodbye to those guys on defense such as Tank Johnson, Odum, Roy Williams and let Dunlap, Atkins, Johnson (GT) play more minutes. Our CB’s are fine, just injured.
Heck, We could get Pryor and convert him to a possession WR! Oh.. that’s right..he gives away his possessions!
I agree w/ this Palmer mentor stuff.
I completely disagree w/ dumping Palmer before next year. NFC WEST next year and the AFC South. Faced 11 teams w/ a winning record this year (and possibly 12 .500 teams), and probably 10 games against playoff teams.
Next year they face 6 games against playoff teams, 6 teams w/ winning records, 7 or 8 teams that went .500 this year.
That is such a massive dropoff in talent faced, especially when you consider the only playoff teams they face next year outside of the division will be either the Colts or Jaguars and either the Rams or Seahawks. Easy easy easy easy schedule.
Trading CP would be a huge mistale IMO.

Palmer Deserving of Credit
I have said this all season long and I will go against the grain yet again – Palmer is not the problem.
RIP Slim states “[Palmer’s] playing well when it doesn’t count.” I say he was playing against a team that had everything to play for while the Bengals had nothing to play for but pride. The very fact that Palmer hit his stride with the highest passer rating of his career with the Bengals’ second tier receiving corps says to me what I believed all along – those wild throws that made Palmer look so bad for most of the year were due to receivers going “rogue” with their routes or simply not making the extra effort for the ball.
I have no doubt that if Palmer has the same cadre of hungry and dedicated receivers next year (I mean Shipley, Caldwell, Simpson, Cosby et al and not Ochocinco and Owens), the Bengals passing game will see vast improvement. Bank on it!
Agree to disagree
I see a second tier receiving corps played 2 CB’s that have played 16 weeks. While i’m not knocking on them for beating SD, its a slight advantage don’t you think?

Do you remember why we signed Antonio Bryant and TO?

S.Kees...
You hit the nail right on the head! Ocho “Stupido” and his side kick Terrel “Overpaid Alligator Arms” Owens thought they were so good at improvising different routes. The new blood – Simpson, Caldwell, Shipley, Cosby and Gresham all want a chance to shine so they’re HUNGRY! Bernard Scott is hungry but I think letting go of Benson isn’t warranted. I think the passing gmaes improvement next year should help the running game (two back system ala Giants)
I’ll be the first one to say I called for Palmer to get out but in retrospect, it was those two “Bozos” playing WR’s and believe me..they were just “playin!”
TO was not overpaid this year
The guy produced more than any of our receivers. Granted, in hindsight, you could argue it would have been better to give Caldwell a shot.
This is our year!
Ehhhhh, Im not so sure Palmer isnt the problem
Yesterday’s win was certainly encouraging, but this no way gets Palmer off the hook for 14 games of crap play. Nor does it get the coaching staff off the hook.
Put simply, none of these players and coaches show up when it really counts or when the team is expected to perform. They will come out like living legends when there is no expectations and the game/season is over, and it has been that way for a long time. Look at the Patriots game at the beginning of the season as a perfect example.
TOCHO certainly could have been the problem this season, and it is definitely worth finding out with a final game vs B More and during the offseason. But one game of brilliance doesnt prove anything one way or the other, either for Palmer or the recievers. that said, I really hope Palmer and these young WRs come out great again next week against the Ravens and give us something to look forward to next season.
Hi fans it Brandon Roy.
And ME.....LaMarcus Aldridge
I think..
Palmer should be with the team one more year. I really think he could mentor a young QB. Don’t think the young WR’s aren’t thinking about the Ravens. Two things could happen..They show up and prove why they should be on the field or get scared of Lewis and his defense. (notice how Ocho “eats dirt” after he catches a pass against the Ravens?)
I’ll agree that T.O. had a good year but that was the worst thing that could’ve happened because that gave him leverage to run his mouth!
Strengthen up the front line and dump the deadwood! Bowers and draft Kellen Moore out of Boise. Please don’t say he’s too small. He’s very smart and the reigning Super Bowl champs have a QB who is 6’1".
Amen brotha
He’s been garbage all season and people think he’s still good for another season. As a bengals fan I DONT want him paid a huge salary to go through this crap again. Palmer is projected to be one of the NFL’s highest-paid players in 2011 with a base salary of $11.5 million.
HIGHEST PAID. Is he Brees,or Brady? NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Do you people even realize if we keep palmer we are not drafting a QB? No way Mikey Brown is going to shell out that dough. Open your eyes.
