When the Bengals beat the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, it put them in one of captain's chairs as a nomination for this week's Prilosec Victory of the Week.
In truth, Cincinnati's win had the shock factor of the Bengals beating the Chargers and no other game had the level of importance for a single NFL team, as a loss eliminated San Diego from the playoffs.
Think about it. The Bears beat the Jets, but really, the Eagles made it much easier for Chicago to take the second seed anyway. The Rams beating the 49ers seemed pointless because the final matchup against the Seattle Seahawks would determine the NFC West Champions -- the Rams could have lost, and the week 17 matchup between Seattle and St. Louis would have still determined the division champions. The Saints and Falcons were both in the playoffs. However, the Vikings win over the Eagles was impressive and the Packers win over the Giants was critical for wild card implications.
Of course, I'm minimizing every other team's win because there's Bengals fans out there that won't pick the Bengals simply because they're too disgruntled to give the Bengals any level of appreciation. Did it work? Did my arguments sway you? Vote for the Bengals. Do it. Do it now.
