Andrew Whitworth Leading All AFC Tackles In Pro Bowl Fan Voting

In one of the more surprisingly recent news, the Cincinnati Bengals may actually have a guy going to the Pro Bowl this year. Sure, you say. Terrell Owens is a natural selection, ranking in the top five with receptions, yards receiving and touchdowns. All things considered, he'll probably go.

However, there's another Bengals player that's working it in the Fan Vote this year.

Andrew Whitworth.

According to Geoff Hobson, the Bengals left tackle is the only Bengals player that's leading the fans' Pro Bowl balloting with more than 202,000 votes at tackle. According to Joe Reedy, Whitworth has a "31k vote lead on Baltimore's Michael Oher with two weeks left in balloting." And according to Josh Kirkendall, "this is totally awesome".

Whitworth, after a fantastic 2009 season, is easily the team's best offensive lineman having a solid year as a pass and rush blocker.

In a season where so much is unknown heading into the offseason, rest assured that Whitworth is here for the long haul. Before the 2008 season, the left tackle signed a four-year extension that will keep him here through 2013.

haha

I was just thinking that. And yea, I’m one of them. Now I’m PERPLEXED. Do we really believe he’s legitimately one of the top tackles in the NFL or is this a fan-love vote? Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s a very good OT. But could we upgrade better with him going back to LG and a stud new LT coming in? And why the HELL couldn’t we have drafted Oher instead of lard tits?

Yeah no kidding. I mentioned something similar before. We need to draft players who are DRIVEN first, THEN worry about talent. Talent is important. But it’s not most important. DRIVE is what is most important.

Taken from that perspective, it makes the choice between Oher and fat Andre an absolute no-brainer. Too bad we didn’t think that way at the time.

You know what?

I’m still saying that. I know Whit is a monster LT, but he’s even more of a monster at LG.

Oh, and congrats to Whit. He works his ass off, has a ton of class and deserves every vote he gets.

I find this pretty funny.

We’re 2-10 right now and we’ll probably have 2 guys going to the Pro Bowl. Last year we won the division at 10-6 and didn’t have a single Pro Bowler.

I was thinking the same thing actually

but it does make sense. Most probowlers/all-pros don’t make it until the season after their breakout year (when people finally start recognizing them). How long did it take for Willie and Takeo to finally make the probowl?
