Around SBN: Four TCU Football Players Among 17 Arrested In Drug Ring

Ocho told Jay Glazer he's sure TO will be a Bengal next year. Really, Ocho?

It would be pretty interesting none the less. The Bengals need another WR threat, but I don't think the pricy, aging, now injury-prone TO is the answer. What do you think?

The answer?

I don’t think he is either, but regardless, he would represent a big improvement over the receiving corps we have right now, and could play the Chris Henry role. If we got him for the “contend-for-the-super-bowl-because-I’m-in-the-twilight-of-my-career” discount, I say why not?

This is our year!

FYI

I used to be against signing him, but I’ve changed my mind on this after thinking about it for awhile. As long as he acts like he did in Buffalo, we ought to at least consider him.

This is our year!

Mostly agreed. He behaved himself in Buffalo and he has to know his chances of playing five more years are minimal to begin with. So give him a short term decent contract. But I don’t want it heavily incentive laden. There are only so many balls to go around and I don’t want him wanting all of them to try to earn extra money. If it is incentive-laden make them TEAM-based incentives. Win games. Win playoff games. Or negative goals, i.e. have less than two drops in 70% of the games you played in and were targeted at least 5 times. Stuff like that.

Sign him

While his play was bad last year, he proved he could keep his mouth shut and do his job. I think he knows his best years are behind him so he’s not putting on the TO show anymore. He should be cheap too! A MB favorite.

If he helped the Bengals win a Lombardi...

…wouldn’t it be funny that after stints with SF, PHI, DAL and BUF if TO needed THE BENGALS to cement his place in Canton?

Just what we need...

…another receiver that can’t catch. I thought Coles had that job on lockdown.

by Galaxy CDS on Feb 4, 2010 2:58 PM EST reply actions

you're an idiot

If you think TO can’t catch, you are dumb and following media hype. look at the game son, not the commentary

by B.A.R on Feb 5, 2010 5:32 PM EST up reply actions

Hmm

Last I checked TO was tied for 4th in the league in drops last season, but what do I know. Yes, he makes some big plays, but he’s well known for dropping way more balls than a potential hall of famer should.

by Galaxy CDS on Feb 5, 2010 8:58 PM EST up reply actions

I mean

We signed Coles, at least TO would be an upgrade on the field.

by sgiridharan1982 on Feb 4, 2010 3:25 PM EST reply actions

love the idea

finally T.O. would be in a place where he is not the no. 1 threat wide out, which would open him up for a huge year…. and if DBs took notice and switched to emphasize him, Ocho would be left on the no. 2 db. win-win

by Joe27 on Feb 4, 2010 3:38 PM EST reply actions

Good Idea

Owens is getting pretty old at 36 and he should be fairly inexpensive. That’s not to say that he isn’t very talented and fast still, but that his priorities are to get a Super Bowl ring. He and Chad have been close friends for a long time, share the same agent, and would compliment each other well since both will thrive if either is double teamed. Case in point: If Chad is shut down by Revis or Asomugha, TO will make huge plays on the other side. Coles can’t do that because smaller receivers don’t age well and can’t rely on their height and bulk to get separation. TO wouldn’t be any more of a distraction than Houshmandzadeh was, and the Bengals do a great job of getting the most out of players viewed as a problem.

It might become a circus...

But heck, why not? At the end of the day, it’s just a game, and if this works out, would be pretty darn exciting and interesting.

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Bengal locker room needs this cancer? H3lllllll nooooooo!

by steveinaz on Feb 4, 2010 4:06 PM EST reply actions

double standard

Cancer in Philly (went to superbowl) cancer in Dallas (Dallas had not made the playoffs for 5 straight years until TO arrived). Cancer in Buffalo? (He didn’t say a word and he was critisized for not speaking up, but in Dallas it was shut up and play football.) Cancer in Philly (80% of the team went to his birthday party his last year on the team) cancer in dallas (He was the only player to call then no name Tony Romo after the botched field goal attempt to see if he was ok). cancer in buffalo ( didn’t have a quarterback that could get it done, never once complained,) How bout you stop taking ESPN’s opinion on players and form one of your own.

Sign him

but don’t think that he is THE final piece to the O. Getting TO AND a young WR is what will help Carson. Add to that a vet TE and then the Bengals suddenly start to have some weapons for Carson.

If Marshall and Floyd are too expensive then he appears to be a great cheap pickup because if anything, he’ll take the heat off Chad and Caldwell (remember when we had Henry and Caldwell was Mr. Clutch-TD?).

Another thing to note is that Miles Austin said that TO was THE reason he became a good WR. He said that TO always taught the young WRs that they couldn’t just rely on their talent alone as well as all those dark and devious little tricks only uber-talented vet WRs find out. Miles Austin said that the sole reason he became the WR he is, was because of TO. Personally i think his tutorledge alone might be worth the pick up if it gets something out of Simpson and more out of Caldwell. Miles Austin also said that TO was always there for the younger guys to get playing advise from. Obviously this isn’t what gets reported but he obviously helps his fellow WRs.

adding another weapon has to be a good thing, but he can’t be the final word (add a WR in the 2nd or 3rd whose a deep threat or physical match-up problem and then we’ll start causing d-coorinators problems).

I agree

Get TO and go for Gilyard in the second round

by elguapo09 on Feb 4, 2010 10:43 PM EST up reply actions

Interesting. And who knows, maybe he could help Caldwell remember how to play well again as well… or something…

by FriarBob on Feb 5, 2010 8:22 AM EST up reply actions

Caldwell is good

he just wasn’t ready for that no.2 WR role. Let him learn from TO some different looks and what certain CBs read and he’ll get better. Having Chad, TO (or vet WR), Caldwell and Coles as a WR rotation seems to be a good vet mix. Add into that a rookie (plus Crosby playing WR/PR) emerging into role-players and Carson has some weapons.

by Sheffieldbengal on Feb 5, 2010 8:37 AM EST up reply actions

please.. god.. no..

maybe we could pick up Thurman, Pac-man, and Joey Porter too.. unreal.

im all for pacman

notice they stopped reporting the case pacman had against them, wondering why… oh right because he won and so now the place the ended his career is paying him. Why not get a check from espn and the bengals and get a ring just to prove idiots like you wrong

by B.A.R on Feb 5, 2010 5:43 PM EST up reply actions

if you are cured of cancer

QUIT SMOKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
