Draft

Hello Cincy Jungle,

I'm a member of the Giants blog Bigblueview.  Over there, we are having a mock draft.  I'm representing Cincy.  I'm not that familiar with your roster.  I'm here looking for suggestions on team need by position and if you are a draftnik best fit for your team.  Positional need would help to evaluate the board when it gets to the pick.  I'm just trying to best represent in the mock draft.

Thanks for your help and time.

Our 3 biggest needs (as I have seen our consensus) are TE, Guard and Safety.

Most of us (I think) don’t think we will take Gresham because he is too similar to Coffman, and not enough of a blocker.

If I were mocking for us I would take in this order in the 1st: Mike Iupati, Brandon Graham, Taylor Mays.

In the second I would go TE. If you are going more rounds Expect the Bengals to take a WR, CB/S, OT/G, and LB in every draft.

I wouldn't count out DE too

Didn’t Zimmer say somewhere that improving the pass rush was going to be a priority?

by Jaegner on Mar 15, 2010 1:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Disregard

Just saw that you included Brandon Graham.

by Jaegner on Mar 15, 2010 1:57 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah I would VERY strongly look OG in the first round, unless there’s a “heavily undervalued” DE available.

If Iupati and Pouncey are both gone and there’s no reasonable DE choice, I’d then look for a dynamic MLB or FS, and only last would I go TE. But even then, I’d reach for the #2 and skip over Gresham. We’ve got enough injury situations around here drafting yet another player off injury would be an unwise move. That doesn’t necessary mean Brown wouldn’t do it, of course, but it would still be an unwise move.

For those who can't remember the uncapped FA rules, this link's for you.

What the Bengals need? OG & FS. What will they draft? Something else.

by indesignkat on Mar 15, 2010 6:21 PM EDT reply actions

Hey Woogie

Our biggest needs are TE, G, FS, and DL or DE.

At this point, its highly likely that we draft for offense in the first still. If Earl Thomas falls to us I can’t imagine not picking him up. Otherwise Iupati, Gresham, or B. Price, J. Odrick or Taylor Mays could be potential picks for us.

by The Dealio on Mar 15, 2010 6:51 PM EDT reply actions

Bengals should try and add depth to the d line to help down the stretch and then maybe draft a big play receiver like golden tate or dez bryant if he falls to us, because ocho and bryant cant easily get injured and theyre also getting older. So bringin in a younger guy as a insurance policy and a prospect would definitley be a positive

Do us a favor

and post your mock draft here so we can see who you picked up.

This is our year!

Thanks for the feedback.

Only 2 picks in so I have awhile until I go.

So far Bradford#1

and Suh #2.

If he's there

which i don’t see, but if he is, i don’t think there’s any chance we pass on earl thomas. we need a cover safety and he’s it.

RIP Slim.

Nice!

Earl Thomas! I’d love to actually see that happen…

Looks like a plausible outcome for the first round. If it turns out that way, I’ll be expecting big things from our D in the fall.

by Mr. X on Mar 16, 2010 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions

I figure that Mike Singletary will take Mays too...

He’s got that D mentality that Singletary has. Hard hitting… If he’s there, Singletary is taking him for sure.

I’d take Thomas over Mays, personally.

by Jaegner on Mar 16, 2010 6:59 PM EDT up reply actions

It’s possible, We can always hope right.

by POGO94 on Mar 16, 2010 4:35 PM EDT reply actions

Thomas over Mays

I would take Thomas over Mays also but not if had a 3-4 defense like the 49ers have. A 3-4 defense needs an enforcer in the secondary like T.P. in Pittsburgh. Remember back in the day the bengals ran a 3-4 defense in our superbowl run in 88-89 season and we had the enforcer David Fulcher (a linebacker playing safety) and my favorite all time bengal defender. This goes hand and hand and he will fit in nicely with P.willis at MLB in front of him in San Fran. I just saw the SB Nation mock draft and it also has us getting Thomas and then UMass G Vladamire Ducasse in the second round.

by POGO94 on Mar 16, 2010 8:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Lupati

I would be happy to have Lupati i think we have to look at need versus Best available and in this case the greater need is Lupati but the best available player is Thomas. It depends on what there view is going into the draft and we wont know until we get there. Generally the bengals go with best available player.

by POGO94 on Mar 17, 2010 8:44 AM EDT reply actions

Who's Lupati?

If you don't live like you wanna, you live like you shouldn't

by trotanoy on Mar 18, 2010 10:09 PM EDT up reply actions

I would not draft a guard

If you’re going to pick OL you pick either C or OT — guards can be had in other rounds.

I would be happy with OC Maurkice Pouncey.
I would be happy with S, DT, DE, or WR.

I don’t think Gresham will do much in Bratworst’s offense. And I don’t want them to draft an OG first.
