Bengals will host UK's John Conner during local prospects day

Every year the Cincinnati Bengals have a local prospects day where they invite and evaluate prospects at area schools. One of those players will be University of Kentucky fullback John Conner. No. Not, that John Conner. That would just be ridiculous.

Aaron Wilson writes:

Conner, who rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns last season, is the top-ranked fullback on most draft boards because of his size, speed and blocking skills.

The 5-foot-11, 241-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.64 seconds at the NFL scouting combine, also bench pressing 225 pounds 24 times and posting a 35-inch vertical leap.

He has been projected anywhere from the middle rounds to the latter portion of the draft.

Conner has already completed visits with the Cowboys and Lions.

How about Trevard Lindley?

I figure Zimmer might take a look at that standout CB

I think

Damien Williams or Anthony McCoy in the 3rd would be good too. Williams would be a great slot receiver.

A RB/FB...seriously????

A.) What is the status of Fat Jeremi?
B.) What is the status of Tony Rockyhara?

Really, gents…I’ve long been a proponent of having The Second Coming of ’Zo, but is this guy it? Really?

Chris…we need a blueneck’s opinion. What say you?

Best fullback in college football.

Can catch, run and block. I certainly wouldn’t turn him down as a second day pick by any means.

by IFChris on Apr 1, 2010 3:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Absolutely right

He’s been the best FB for two years. He pancaked so many SEC linebackers its ridiculous.

And he is a good person too, not that it matters. Also, he graduated from Lakota West.

Call it aftermath, she's turning blue, Such a lovely color for you.

Connor was my favorite player on the cats last season

and he only rushed for 164 yards. That should tell you something.

Please draft Connor!

This guy has been on my mock draft forever and a day. I hope we can snatch him up with the 7th pick, but may need to get him earlier such as in the 6th round to ensure we land him. One of the best FB’s in the draft.

Check out this mock draft

has 5 rounds http://walterfootball.com/draft2010.php Gilyard goes at 48 to Carolina and Pike goes to Titans at pick 111
has us picking:
21-Taylor Mays S USC
54-Lamarr Houston DT Texas
84-Mitch Petrus G Arkansas
96-Jacoby Ford WR Clemson
120-Anthony McCoy TE USC
131-Jerome Murphy CB South Florida
152-Leigh Tiffin K Alabama,

And the first kicker is off the board! The Bengals need to find someone who doesn’t miss every single clutch field goal he attempts

I find this interesting

Connor pressed 225 lds. 24 times and is considered a strong runner. NcCluster who I want but most don’t think is powerful enough weighs 175 lbs and pressed 225 lbs. 20 times. A 60 lb weight difference and only 4 more reps? I would say connor is pretty weak for his size or McCluster is pretty string for his..

I wouldn't say Connor is weak.

225 × 20 at 175 pounds is absolutely ridiculous.

by Jaegner on Apr 2, 2010 12:16 AM EDT up reply actions

OK Connor is weak for his size compared to McCluster

He did 20 × 225 at the combine – look it up. He also engages the LB to tackle him. He does npt run OB. He is listed as a RB but he is projected to play the slot. He has great hands, super ball security and no LB can cover him 1 on 1 – it will take a good safety as well and that means Bryant or Chad is going to have 1 on 1 coverage. He can also be a back up RB as a bonus.
