What a roller coaster schedule
tough, tough, cake, cake, cake, bye, moderate, moderate, tough, tough, moderate, tough, tough, tough, cake, tough, tough
Brutal...
but if the Bengals defense continues to improve, they will be in all of those games.

Yep.
It’s the third game of the day, which is NFLN game and not the traditional Lions or Cowboys. On the other hand, the Cowboys will host the Saints on Thanksgiving. So that’s pretty badass.

Honestly I don’t think 11-5 is too overly optimistic – this is assuming we split with both the Ravens and the Steelers, win some/lose some tough games, and win all the games we absolutely should.
we're going 16-0 i thought
But, I’m hoping for 10-6. This is a really rough schedule. If the defense is better than expected and learns how to rush passers, maybe 11-6 is in reach.
id be really impressed if we go 11-6
but in all seriousness, i see about 10-6 for this schedule
That's what I'm talkin about jsl
16-0. Who Dey! This just makes me that much more excited for the draft.
This is our year!

I don't think we should underestimate Cleveland fellas
If you remember last year at this time we were considered by many a non-factor and came with a surprise for everyone.. Happens every year..
yeah, i’ll take Jake Delhomme trying to throw past Leon and JJ all day

I'm not underestimating them, per se.
I just think the Bengals are a much better team than they are.
I agree...
However history show’s we play down to our competition we can not afford to do that next year with these guys.. The finished strong.. Not a lot of room for that this year…
by JamesShively on Apr 20, 2010 7:24 PM EDT up reply actions
The defense certainly won't play down next year.
Hopefully the offense snaps into shape and we have a complete team this year.
RE: Cleveland
I know why and where you’re coming from. I agree they’re actually on their way to building properly. But this year. I’m totally underestimating them. :)

10-6
If they stock up on DL depth in the draft and find a deep threat.
They could very well lose every game from week 9-14, but that depends on injuries and everything else. It will definitely be an interesting season.
Injuries will be important.
If key defenders (Odom, Maualuga, safeties, corners) stay healthy, the D will be in good shape.
oops, didn't finish my thought because Homer Bailey sucks
And with the addition of Gresham, Bryant, Gilyard, or some combination thereof (hopefully), the offense should be too!
Get On The Gilyard...
koolaid Jay,cas if we get this kid,the slot is covered and the kickoffs will be fun to watch brother,he is the real deal.
I just saw a draft where he fell to us in the third
… but didn’t my 6th grade teacher tell me I couldn’t cite mocks???
Surprising..
3 prime time games? Does the NFL actually…respect the Cincinnati Bengals now? We finally got a piece of that pie.
Although from a personal perspective I hate prime time games, because I’m 5 hours ahead of Cincy-time where I live.
I just got back from Hawaii...I couldn't find any Bengals fans there.

Ohh It Will Be..
Good Thanksgiving Game, that is a game some Bengal players will have circled after what they did last year to us..as Josh said earlier …PRIMETIMEEEE BABYYY!!!
I don't want to poop in everyone's cherio's
But if we don’t hit it out of the park on offense with this draft, we will lose 10 games this year. I’ll go down with the ship (as always), but this schedule is just nasty.
by Bengals NFL Champs on Apr 20, 2010 7:48 PM EDT reply actions
Hope you're right
I wanna believe, and I think our defense will be better with everyone healthy, it’s just that all we’ve added to an offense that was truly atrocious last year is Antonio Bryant.
If we head into week 3 at 0-2, I’m hittin’ the panic button.
by Bengals NFL Champs on Apr 20, 2010 7:54 PM EDT up reply actions
We've also added more experience for a young offensive line.
And more time for them to play together. And the draft is upcoming – you can bet we’ll have a couple of new tight ends (Coffman included) by Sunday. Coupled with the return of Reggie Kelly and dismissal of Ben Coates, that position looks much better.
Add a 2nd or 3rd round WR like Decker or Gilyard, and WR looks solid up top too.
4th toughest schedule in the league
According to Reedy’s article on Cincinnati.com opponents have a cumulative record of 138-118 last year.. Meaning we have to play like were good enough to make it the AFC Championship game! Lets do it !

Re: I don't want to poop in everyones cheerios
You couldn’t if you tried, brother. I’m riding this optimistic wave of who-dey as far as it’ll take me.
My Take..
is this, when you get Palmer weapons, and a defense that plays with intensity, this team can beat any team in the league, alot a injured players playing hurt and no Coles,no TE’s,and Chad cant catch a cold, and slot recievers dropping passes right and left, was the reason that team faltered down the stretch, this year, this team has revamped the passing game to match what they did with the running game last year, its gonna be exciting to watch if they get a TE,and Gilyard in the slot and kickoffs and a hitter safety like Earl Thomas, that puts them over the top in my book.
Thomas won't fall that far.
I’d say look for a 2nd or 3rd round safety unless they Bengals brass is really sold on Mays.
I Can Accept..
Mays after Zims gets him coached up,he has the physical tool, let Zim get him the rest
i wish we would go all in and trade up to get berry
by Bengals NFL Champs on Apr 20, 2010 8:06 PM EDT up reply actions
I don't.
I’d rather see 4 guys that can fill important roles on this team drafted in the first 3 rounds.
Safety is a concern, but all-in for one player is scary.
yeah it always is
but i think he’s the best player in this draft—could eventually have the same impact polamalu does for the steelers
by Bengals NFL Champs on Apr 20, 2010 8:10 PM EDT up reply actions
yeah
but we have to say “could” about every player we’re going to draft this year
by Bengals NFL Champs on Apr 20, 2010 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions
But play the odds a little bit and think of the big picture
Is Berry going to make or break this team? I mean, I dunno, but probably not. The offense is in desperate need of weapons. The defense needs a pass rush (the corners are pretty damn good). Safety is a need, but it’s not worth trading the bank for in my book, and Mike Brown would NEVER do it anyway.
I also wouldn't mind
trading up to get the best pass rusher…LOL
by Bengals NFL Champs on Apr 20, 2010 8:19 PM EDT up reply actions
Pierre-Paul could stumble a good ways.
I wouldn’t mind Bryant falling, then McCoy in round 3, and a round 2 safety.
Visualize with me...
Eric Berry in stripes…safety blitz…Flacco squished into a purple spot on the PBS field turf

I think I want ballhawking
AND Zim can teach him the squishing part.
Is that too greedy?
by Bengals NFL Champs on Apr 20, 2010 8:25 PM EDT up reply actions
Pierre-Paul
We have to take Pierre-Paul if he falls to us. The guy is a freak of nature, he’s going to be a beast! He’s super athletic!
Play the odds is right
the higher we draft, the better odds we have of taking an impact player. I’d say trade up as well if we had a chance, but of course it’s not going to happen anyways.
This is our year!
You're all right.
it won’t happen. But it my feeble mind, it makes me feel better just to right it.
I hate Mike Brown.

We Have..
alot of picks this year, look at this roster, where are all these picks gonna play,I say if you got some bargaining chips like that, see if you can use them to get upper round help.
+1
The Force is strong with this one
by Bengals NFL Champs on Apr 20, 2010 8:12 PM EDT up reply actions
Well...
A TE or WR could get significant PT. So could a DT or DE. So could a safety.
But, so could a TE, WR, DE and Safety.
I Say...
use those picks for upper round talent tho,I mean I can see TE and DE getting some PT,but we are talking 9 picks,I mean if you cant get help thru the draft, why not ask teams about trades,i know I have said Olsen from the Bears like a broken record in here, but can you imagine,Olsen at TE,Gilyard in the slot, and Bryant and Chad (Simpson?haha) as 1 and 2 with Ced at RB and Carson on the point, sheww dont wake me from this Dream.
I think there are a few better TE in this draft than Olsen
Not in the 5th round, which is all I’d give up for him, but still.
I wouldn't trade up for Berry. The price would be too high
I do wish that we would adapt and get rid of this " we need bodies mentality". We do not need bodies. Cleveland, Detroit, St.Louis, KC….they need bodies. We need 3-5 good quality players. If we came out of this draft with quality at Safety, TE, OL WR and CB I would trade everything else in the draft I needed to to get them. We used to need quantity in 07 thru 09 but now we need the right players in a few positions not a bunch of guys who in all likelyhood can’t displace our current starters or their immediate backups. In the recent past our starters weren’t good enough to beat out some lower round guys but now these guys will probably be TC fodder. Yes there are “diamonds in the rough” but the chances of finding a TJ or Brady in the 6th-7th round is pretty low.
I would really like to see us trade 5-7th and maybe even a 4th round picks to improve our 2nd and 3rd round positions. MB would save all of the later round signing money and apply it to a couple of higher picks. It would also allow our coaches to concentrate on players who can actually help us win games.
"Coincidence is God's way of staying anonymous"
I wouldn't mind trading those late round picks to get back into an earlier round.
But, I do think the Bengals still need bodies at least to a point. There is decent, but not great depth. If one of any number of key players go down, it could be a long, bad year.
On the other hand, I’d trade up into the middle of the first round for Earl Thomas. If he’s still around at ~14, I’d trade my 1 and 3 to move up and grab him.
Wished This...
That Jerome Simpson would actually beat out Chad,or atleast push Chad for playing time,Simpson hasnt got a fair shake here and has some gifted tools as a WR,I think hes like Austin is for Dallas, took him few years to get a chance, and when he did,he lit it up!
I would love to see Simpson break out
That would give us a helluva future at WR, assuming Caldwell can play the slot. Bryant has 4 good years left, at least, Chad probably only 2-3. 2 if there’s a strike in 2011.
I still wouldn’t pass on a WR in the first 3 rounds this year. It’s a deep WR class and they’re all pretty decent prospects. Dez Bryant in round 1 would be awesome if he falls.
Well..
Chads GONE after next year, thats a given,Bengals wont tag him and hes gonna wanna go out on the market,so you better groom someone this year to take that spot.
That's Bryant.
Hopefully Simpson and Caldwell are ready and Jermaine Gresham is Tony Gonzales Gates Jr. by then.
Throw in Gilyard or Decker or Benn or something in 2/3..
Let's hope he will be gracoius enough to retire in stripes..
by JamesShively on Apr 20, 2010 8:16 PM EDT up reply actions
I doubt that will happen..
He will want more money and he will be on the downside of his career. MB will not pay for him to stay. That is why I think Simpson is his replacement. They’ve been up to something with Simpson for the past two years. Sitting him and not at least giving him a chance to play? Grooming…. for Chad’s spot I say.
Mike Brown
has went on the record telling Chad he will retire in stripes.. and in chads words “When he say’s something he means it”

We have the toughest schedule in the division and the Steelers have the easiest..
All Eyes ..
are on what the league will do to Big Ben,the players are gonna see if he gets treated better since hes won a few superbowls, and even if their schedule is easier, how do you replace Big Ben in that offense no matter who the team is?

but you still cant wake me from dreaming Olsen at TE and Gilyard in the slot and kickoffs.

I love it when we get big comment numbers :)

This schedule worries the hell out of me
Looking back to last season, we lost four of our final five games against quality opponents. Including lopsided beat downs to the Vikings and Jets. We really hadn’t beaten a top shelf team since mid November when we entered the playoffs. We had to grind out wins over the Lions and Chiefs at home! I don’t know if we were just out of gas due to a hard fought season of close games against division opponents or what. Benson is already bitching about playing meaningful games late in the season.
Maybe we will rise to the challenge this time, but unless we sweep the division again, I could see us going 8-8 or worse. We have to do something through the air this year and start strong otherwise it’s a rocky road ahead. We’re playing basically the same schedule as 2006, and I’m worried we might slip in the same way. Pats, Jets, Colts, Ravens, Saints, Steelers and Chargers are the cream of the crop so we’ll find out week one if we have finally reached their class.
"You shouldn't throw rocks at a man with a machine gun." - Rowdy Roddy Piper
my bengals
if they keep with the theme they have had for a while, they’ll lose to the Browns twice, the Bills, and Tampa, they’ll sweep the Steelers and Ravens, they beat who they are not supposed to beat the lose to who they are not supposed to lose to, stumble in the playoffs with a decent record and we’ll all be excited but scratching our heads once again, the real question is “will they win in the playoffs this year?”
Just in...
Roethlisberger suspended for 6 games. He’ll be back just in time to face the defending SB Champion Saints before getting thoroughly demoralized by the Cincinnati Bengals at PBS.
