11 receivers?!?
According to the little tell tale roster on the left side of the screen, plus our two drafted WR's, that's how many we currently have. Does that seem excessive to anyone else? Why didn't we draft a safety....ANY safety?!? Oh wait! I can't believe I didn't realize this right away! Mikeyboy must be planning to convert some of these guys, cause that Jason Shirley experiment worked out so well. Seriously though, I think it's a decent draft. I would much rather take the BPA than be handcuffed by position needs, and I understand Ghee is projected as a possible safety. Still would have liked to see us make a move for Rolle in the 7th.

They should sign TO now
since Shipley won’t do that much as a rookie.

Huh?
The kid is NFL ready right now. He is probably our 3rd, or 4th best receiver the minute we drafted him.
Shipley won't do much as rookie?
um, they just grabbed their Punt Returner and Slot receiver… book it… Best pick they made.
3 yards and a pile of dust

+1
Shipley WILL win the slot role out of Training Camp and he will be VERY productive as a Rookie. I am very high on Shipley. Shipley is going to be HUGE on 3rd downs. He is also going to be huge over the middle. After a few games teams are going to have to decide to roll coverage to Chad and Bryant and leave Shipley and Gresham open in the middle or Cover Shipley and Gresham and leave Chad and Bryant one-on-one on the outside. EIther way advantage-Bengals offense. The only concern I have is Bratkowski. Shipley will be a Fan Favorite after just a few games and everyone will realize how much he will help the offense. The mere threat of a good slot receiver forces the D to make a choice.
Draft was okay
I didn’t quite get why we picked another receiver in the draft, but it seems that they’re going to cut Jerome Simpson and possibly a few others. Bengals will only keep six receivers, which will probably be Ocho, Bryant, Caldwell, Shipley, Matt Jones, and Cosby. Jones and Cosby are maybes, and the Bengals are just bringing in people to compete for spots. Still, I am surprised they didn’t take a safety either. Overall, though, I am happy with our picks. It should help us to defend the AFC North in 2010.
Mind boggling..
how we didn’t draft Reshad Jones in the 5th. Who the fuck is Otis whatshisface?
If you don't live like you wanna, you live like you shouldn't
From NFL.com:Otis HudsonPick Analysis: This is a really good pick. He has really good feet and long arms. The only thing he lacks is strength. Bengals offensive line coach Paul Alexander loved him when he worked him out, and he is always very thorough in his evaluations.
Seems like he just needs to add some meat. Project, but seems like a high upside. That’s what you want in a 5th round pick.
And for fun
Reshad Jones Pick Analysis: The Dolphins continue to upgrade their secondary. This kid had 11 career INTs. He’s an explosive hitter with good ball skills. One concern is that he misses too many tackles looking for the big hit. Needs to improve his instincts in the deep half of the field.
sounds like he could go up or down. I wouldn’t disagree that he would have made a lot of people happy. However it’s difficult to tell what the team thinks they can do.
all good
simpson chris davis maybe jones will be cut and some might hurt and some will go to the pratice squad so not all the receives will make it

Lighting the fire
having 11 receivers is going to light a fire under somebody. With that sort of competition, the coaches are sending a signal that nobody is safe. I’m not going to bet against Simpson here. In fact, I’m not going to be against anybody. In my mind the only WRs that are safe are Ocho and AB, and everybody else will be fighting for a job.
This is our year!
Simpson
I think Simpson will make it. Having the six be Ocho, AB, Shipley, Caldwell. Briscoe and Simpson. With Shipley we wont need Cosby as a punt returner. I think Jones is the only one who will be able to take out Simpson.
We have so many freaking weapons this year it's awesome.
I’m just imagining the pure sex of running a 2 tight end set. Or a 4 wide set….. Defenses will have to play much more honest this season.
