Bengals Sign S Bryan Evans, Tight End Jeff Cottam, Running Back Cordera Eason
Cincinnati signed safety Bryan Evans, according to Joe Reedy who writes that seven college free agents have signed with the Bengals. The Georgia safety will join Jeromy Miles as the team's newest safety additions after the team shut themselves out of the NFL draft this weekend. Evans ran a 4.46 and 4.47 at Georgia's Pro Day in mid-March. Much like several of the team's defensive draft picks, Evans has excelled in academics.

Cincinnati signed Tight End Jeff Cottam. Well, it would seem that the Bengals found their blocking Tight End. The three-time Academic All-SEC Tennessee Volunteer has seven career receptions, two of which were touchdowns. Cottam, the brother of current Chiefs Tight End, Brad Cottam, has played in 35 career games with eight being starts in his collegiate career. We can pretty much assume that Cottam's only change of making the squad is through special teams.

Cincinnati signed Running Back Cordera Eason. His best season coming in 2008 where he rushed for 647 yards, averaging 4.6 yards-per-rush. Aside from that, the rarely used Ol' Miss running back ran the football 46 times in the three other seasons. Special teams guy?

im a big fan of Bryan Evans
could be a very good pickup
How about adding backup QB Thaddeus Lewis of Duke?
If you follow the ACC, you’ll note that in recent years Duke has actually played competitive football. Not sure how much is due to the QB, but he may be a good prospect to be a backup.
took a glance at the link provided for Evans
and, at least in the pretty much unanimous opinion of the fans commenting there, dude can’t cover a lick. Hope not.

Really?
The link shows he is a CB. A CB who can’t cover atleast as good as you would like a Safety. Especially with that 4.4 speed. Maybe needs to work on technique. I like the pick ups. Surely one of our options are better than Tom Nelson. Marvin and Zim have a plan for the safety position, I have to believe.
Big ups to the Bengals!!!
Well I disagree with IgnorantJReilly, I think B Evans is a diamond in the ruff. Great speed, quick feet, and can hit. As far as coverage, he is great!!!!! UGA coaching techniques sux!!!! Did not have real positioning coaching defensively therefore the defense always looked off balance. So “big ups” to the Bengals!!!!!! Looking forward to seeing the developement.
