Poll Results Response

The original poll published in the Roster Spots Fanpost indicated that the vast majority of us are worried that the team didn't gather any top-flight Safety prospects in the draft. Lets take an even closer look at that spot.

Morgan Trent (Nickleback / Free Safety) 6'0" -- 195lbs -- 24 yrs old -- 1 yr NFL -- 1 yr Bengal -- Played in 16 games with no starts yielding 28 tackles, 1 sack, and 4 passes deflected -- 1 yr w/ Zimmer

Kyries Hebert (Kick Gunner [sp. teams] / Strong Safety) 6'3" -- 230lbs -- 29 yrs old -- 2 yrs NFL -- 2 yr Bengal -- Played in 31 games with 2 starts yielding 57 tackles -- 2 yrs w/ Zimmer

Jeromy Miles (Strong Safety / Free Safety) 6'2" -- 215lbs -- 22 yrs old -- Rookie -- UMass -- College Free Agent

Keiwan Ratliff (Nickleback / Free Safety) 5'11" -- 188lbs -- 29 yrs old -- 6 yrs NFL -- 3.2 yr Bengal -- Played in 51 games and started 8 yielding 102 tackles, 9 passes deflected, 3 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles, no yrs w/ Zimmer (he's also a sure-handed, yet terrible, punt returner)

Bryan Evans (Free Safety) 5'11" -- 190lbs -- 23 yrs old -- Rookie -- Georgia -- College Free Agent

Rico Murray (Free Safety / Nickleback) 5'11" -- 202lbs -- 22 yrs old -- 1 yr NFL -- 1 yr Bengal -- Played in 4 games with no starts yielding 1 tackle -- 1 yr w/ Zimmer

We know what most of these guys can do but what about Ghee, Miles, and Evans?

Brandon Ghee CBS Bio: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1243072

Jeromy Miles UMass Bio: http://www.umassathletics.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/miles_jeromy00.html

Bryan Evans Georgia Bio: http://www.georgiadogs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=8800&ATCLID=308337

Miles seems to have the most potential to get into the rotation at safety. He started 3 years at UMass and was a tackling machine, without missing a game. The bio also says he was a 2009 pre-season consensus First Team All-American after his great junior campaign.
