A Former Local High School Standout Is Our Answer At FB

340x_medium

The Tampa Bay Bucaneers recently cut B.J. Askew, For those who aren't familiar with Askew he is from Cincinnati and was a standout at Colerain high school WHere some say that Askew and Daryl Robinson could have been the arguably the best highschool backfield ever assembled. The only bad thing about the guys is that he went to Michigan in where according to WIkipedia,  ranks first all-time among Michigan running backs in reception yards. While at Michigan he was the lead blocker for Bengals former runnning back Chris Perry. BJ Askew is very versatile and according to Scout.com  Helped Buccaneers offense average 4.17 yards per rush, the second-highest average in team history. Finished season with 18 receptions for 175 yards (9.7 avg.) and four special teams tackles. B.J. is 6-3 233 And is only 29 years old, he brings more experience and provides the same versatility as Fui at the fullback position. He is even rated as being a better fullback than Naufau Tahi. Fullback is an obvious need for the Bengals that was not addressed in the draft so why not take the former 3rd round selection from Cincy? I like what this guy could bring to our team. With him being from Cincy I believe there is a good chance a workout could be scheduled soon. I really would like to see this guy in stripes.

In the video below Askew is # 34

this is a tough call AK.

While Askew is a more natural FB, Fui brings an interesting element to what looks to be a revamped pass game. he’s had time to study the NFL FB position with Jeremi Johnson, but provides a threat both as a ballcarrier and threat out of the back field.

I voted for Fui but i’m on the fence on this one.

3 yards and a pile of dust

He has serious issues

concerning his neck. His career is most likely over because as a FB its hard to continue if your head falls off.

I agree...

I mentioned this on the Jeremi Johnson post…

All My Bengals

So: TB takes Pressley from the Bengals and is now starting him at fullback, and the Bengals should take the guy that Pressley beat out? Meanwhile, the guy the Bengals kept instead of Pressley is now bulking up to star in America’a Biggest Loser. We need to lock Mikey-Boy in a closet until after the first regular season game.

Wow good point.

No amount of prosperity is sufficient to eliminate all misfortune, and sloth is impervious to opportunity.

READ THIS!

Below is the link for Joe Tronzo, the CFA FB we signed aout of Louisville.

Of note is the high school stuff:
- four-time USAPL National Powerlifting champion
- three-time Class AAA state shot put champion

He may not be much for carrying or receiving, but we may have our next FB here. Sounds like the Pressley-esque FB we have all been asking for. Fui may have a hard time keeping his job.
