"It's two-fold. You don’t know what you have in Coffman, and he would've been a higher pick had he not had injuries coming out of Missouri. But he's also pretty one-dimensional. You look at what the Bengals ask out of the tight-end position over the years, and it's blocker first. That’s not who Chase Coffman was, and that's not who he is. So it’s hard to get an evaluation of what they want to do at the position. A year ago they drafted Coffman. So maybe you think they're going to start throwing the ball to that position and using the tight end more as a receiver. Then their tight ends get hurt, so it's kind of hard to say what their intentions are. If the Bengals love their wide receivers, they could just use their tight ends to block, where Coffman doesn’t fit very well. But if they understand they could add another pass receiver, Coffman might be a good fit."

For an owner who values draft picks so highly, it would seem he is willing to gamble with his higher picks on projects or players who might not fit in our system. I understand the ‘chance’ inherited in the system, but there is a difference between taking smart risks and making choices that leave a business susceptible to failure.

I like having no idea.

It better allows for rampant speculation, the foundation for most NFL draft talk.

freakin great

I love the chase conversation. It seems to me now that coaches got to really be impressed w him to change the system to utilize him correctly. In other words… can he outperform Caldwell for the third option?

Better yet, … Can Caldwell and Coffman contribute simultaneously?

This is our year!

That's a lot to ask of Bratowski

You think he’s gonna actually re-write his vast playbook to build in plays based on having matchups of LBers and Safeties covering Chase Coffman?

Please, lets hope so. No one ever suspects…THE BISHOP!

yes!

and, I just know he’s going to make some sterling halftime adjustments this year in games where we’re struggling offensively and start the third quarter trailing.
And…we’re going to draft a rainbow-powered unicorn at fullback…
