Does A Humble Jones Make A Difference?

Scheftweet_medium

By now, most of us have resigned ourselves to the fact that by the end of the day, there's a very real possibility Adam "Pacman" Jones will be a member of the Cincinnati Bengals. Feelings and reactions to the idea vary, quite naturally. Some see it as a joke of a move, while others see it as a "it doesn't hurt" exercise.

While I lean more toward the "don't do it" side, Mike Zimmer's confidence makes the idea easier to stomach.

That being said, does the idea of a more humble Jones -- let's be honest here, he really isn't in any position to act anything but humble, at least in relation to NFL employment -- and the fact Zimmer believes it to be true, make the idea easier for you to tolerate and/or endorse?

Let us know below.

Lets see what he can do..

The only part of this that has me worried in the potential multi-year contract. But ’tis the season to dump a player with no financial penalty..

I don't think this is Mike Brown's doing.

Questionable talent on the cheap. Thats Mike. Multi year contract. Zimmer endoursement. This many legit free agents in and out of town. Mike ain’t pulling the strings her folks. Somethings changing. Maybe Marvin. Maybe Katie. Not Mikey!

the fact zimmer is for this move makes me believe. he took an awful defense and made it one of the leagues best…and the defense going to be even better this year. i feel the bengals are preparing to make a serious super bowl run with what looks to be the best bengals team to come along in an awfully long time…

actions speak louder than words

Humble? We’ll find out over the next several months, not based on what the coaching staff (no matter how competent) says. Zimmer puts that one out there for the media’s sake, so they and most of the fan base can have a simple way of understanding the decision to sign this newly “humble” former bad boy. It’s better PR than the Bengals organization saying something like…

“… Adam Jones is a talented and badass football player, who has diminished his market value over the last three years by being an impulsive moron. We’re gambling a small amount of money that even he has finally learned from this experience. Best case scenario, we get a good player on the cheap. All we have to lose is a few hundred thousand dollars which, let’s face it, TV revenues turn into chump change.”

The Real Issue

Humble, schmumble, we all know Pacman’s past as an arrogant thug, but we must difer to Zimmer here. If he thinks he can get something out of Jones, that should be good enough for us. In ZIM We Trust !

Prove us wrong Adam!

If the Bengals had a true dominant leader on the field on defense who could keep Jones humble then I wouldn’t be so skeptical. The locker room has an increased possibility of turning into an asylum if this new found humility is not kept in check. If it turns out to be a multi-year contract i will be curious to see if he gets involved in the community & tries to soften public opinion. Hope he proves us all wrong and turns over a new leaf. Just tired of Cincinnati being the place where players go to squander their potential!

Of course he’s acting humble now, because if he didn’t act that way he probably wouldn’t get any kind of contract. It’s all show. We’ll know if he’s really humble after about a year of being under contract.

This is our year!

This is not the way to build a Super Bowl team.

The Bengals have had two Super Bowl contenders. Name the thugs on those teams. Name the players on those teams who didn’t put the game and his team first.

Adam Jones has never put the game first. Talent is good. But it doesn’t make a player a professional.

I want a Super Bowl contender.
