Marvin Lewis has a well known affinity for the military. On Sunday, Lewis jumped out of an airplane, skydiving with the Golden Knights' Sgt First Class Mike Elliot. Then:
On Monday he has replaced his team’s final chance to have a voluntary practice on the field with another opportunity to keep hammering home his military theme of selflessness and teamwork when he and his players host the Golden Knights for lunch after a handful of them parachute onto the practice fields.
The Golden Knights are a demonstration and competition parachute team for the United States Army.
In a few weeks, Lewis, along with head coaches Andy Reid, John Fox and Brad Childress, will "take part in an NFL-USO coaches tour in the Persian Gulf in the coming weeks. The coaches will visit with U.S. military personnel for several days and get a look at some of the goings-on in the Middle East." As to when and where they'll be, that's not being disclosed for security reasons, per the Star Tribune's Judd Zulgad.
