I love Chad. Though I was ready to ditch him during his tirades in the offseason in '08, the way he swallowed his pride and responded to that criticism during the next offseason, was astounding. When the man gears his energy towards honing his skills, I doubt there are many that could match his effort. But...
Its time for the Ocho to direct that energy and enthusiasm into bettering his teammates, and keeping them hungry for success throughout the season. I take very little issue with him doing television and blogging rather than OTA's, the guy works out on his own.
The most recent interviews with Chad as he's returned to the practice field have shown a determined and serious, Fierce-Eyed-85, who's usual catch phrases have taken on a hard-edged delivery. Perhaps his television series' can act as an outlet through which to vent his unbridled ridiculousness, and he'll be able to view the field as "the gridiron" instead of "the stage".
I have enjoyed his celebrations and entertainment over the years. To me, Chad Johnson is the Bengals. But now that he is 30ish, we need a true veteran presence from him on the field. That doesn't mean "cut the crap", it just means "tone it down until we're up by 20."
