Bengals Release Center Dan Santucci

According to the Bengals official twitter account, the Bengals waived center Dan Santucci on Thursday. After playing four seasons with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Santucci was drafted by the Bengals in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL Draft. After he was waived by the Bengals on September 2, signed to the Indianapolis Colts practice squad the next day, Cincinnati signed Santucci to the team's 53-man roster less than a week later.

After playing in two games in 2007, Santucci was a story of injury. He suffered a high ankle sprain against the Green Bay Packers during the 2008 preseason and was placed on the Injured Reserve list before the season kicked off. In 2009, Santucci suffered a foot injury during Training Camp and was placed on Injured Reserve soon after.

Kyle Cook is making folk expendable.

Between Cook and adding Luigs last April, Santucci wasn’t going to be long for this squad.

The Paul Alexander scholarship fund has run out of money...

Santucci has hung around this roster far too long on the hope that he may one day contribute to the team. He’s earned just over $800k in the last three years without getting his name on the stat sheet.

you have to think they’re done waiving guys until Gresham is under contract. I think they’re at 81 now. As soon as Gresham’s contract is signed………

BYE BYE rockhand Coats

3 yards and a pile of dust

Coats will make the 80. I’m fairly sure of it. If he makes the 53 though, I will set my house on fire.

This is our year!

Or better yet, I’ll get some cinder blocks, pour some gasoline on them, and set that on fire as an effigy to Coats’ hands.

Ha

If Dan “shat on the” Coats is on the final 53, I’ll fly out to Cincinnati and Bitch Slap the coaching staff and management for keeping him. Then I’ll go home and kick my dog.

RE:

Well, you can axe Harris as consideration, being that he’s really only a long snapper. My belief is it will all determine on Coffman — will he play? Is he ready? Do the Bengals want a backup option for a blocking tight end? (then that would be Coats)

Can Harris not block?

I know he is the long snapper, but they list him as LS/TE and we also have Windt for long snapper duties, which I suspect he would definately make it to the PS in case something happened to Harris. But then again if Harris isn’t an effective blocker then all of this is moot.

RE:

Yea, but Brad St. Louis was also listed as a LS/TE most of his career in Cincinnati and I can’t remember him taking an offensive snap. Actually, I remember a LOT of offensive snaps. Lol. That’s funny right there man.

I mean.. that might mean that they’ll keep coats. No, NO. NOOOOO! This can’t be right it just can’t I tell ya! *frustration leads to me jumping out window.

So, who makes the team as backup C?

Luigs or Stephens?

I was thrilled that we finally drafted a center when we got Luigs, but I wonder if he can hold up at the point of attack.

I thought

Luigis got injured earlier in the offseason. I was under the impression he would have to be at least PUPed.

If not though I would imagine that Reg would be put on the practice squad.

This is our year!
