Empty backfield.... Full aerial assault
Hoooooooooooooooooooooly moooooooooooooooooly. Two days til Training camp Bengal fans! As i'm sure you're all aware, T.O. is quite possibly gonna take his first trip to Georgetown Kentucky to get right in the new 5-wide set from hell.
If you don't know my style, i'm a big highlight junkie. I got to thinking about what combination of targets for #9 could do some serious SICK damage. I shall visually reveal my fearsome-fivesome. Please vote for your ideal quintet below:
The one and only - Ochocinco:
2010 FA WR numero uno - Antonio Bryant:
Hard Knock stepchild - Chase Coffman:
OH SNAP.... we drafted another TE, too, didn't we? - Jermaine Gresham:
Love me some me.... T.O., just help us get the damn Lombardi, homey - Terrell Owens:

Well ...
What if Bryant isn’t ready to play for most of 2010, which is what irritates me and totally pisses me off instead of getting me jazzed up for camp.

that doesn’t mean he won’t be ready later in the season…..

Doesn't change my group.
Chad, TO, Gresham, Shipley, Caldwell. Now, if Bryant wants to step up and lose his pussified ways, then I guess he can join the teaparty as well. But for now, I think this what a loaded gun looks like.

I sort of hope this lights a fire for Bryant. He’s gotta compete now to get his reps and playing time, where as before we all took for granted his #2 status.
This is our year!

Run
Coaches will keep the emphasis on the run. That’s what swept the division last year.
The receiving corp, in any combination, is mostly new. They haven’t worked out with Palmer and the o-line in anything near game conditions.
An empty backfield means a sack or interception if the receivers and Palmer aren’t very well practiced and perfectly timed. They have to know each other’s thoughts.
That’s also why Ocho was the only reliable back last year after Slim went down.
I can only hope they don't have short term memory loss....
The commitment to the running game is as important as ever. This shouldn’t change that, IMO. I hope the only thing it changes is the efficiency when we do pass the ball and how many ‘open’ options Carson has when dropping back.
Actually, T.O. has been working out with Palmer.
Even Steelers fans know this.
But you still have problems. Bryant hurt. A ton of your receiving corps are greener than a fresh dollar bill.
But enjoy the high times. Must feel good to have swept the division two years in a row. Congrats.

Not a Spread, but my Wishful Formation
With this we formation we could definately run or gun.
WR’s: Ocho, TO
TE’s: Gresham, Coffman
HB: B.Scott

Palmer has needed a TE like Gresham for a while.
He’s big, he’s athletic and he catches every ball that’s thrown his way.
I don’t know how they’ll get all the good players in. Greshman, Coffman, Kelly at the TE. Ocho, Bryant, probably TO, Simpson, Shipley, Briscoe at the WR. And yes, I’m just being a cocky tool and gloating about our depth right now. After dealing with the shitfest that’s been the Bengals ever since I’ve been born, I think I’ve earned it.

Depth
the trip to the jungle this year is going to be one deep deep in the jungle…..SO PUMPED
oh yea, i agree w/that formation above, but – 1 TE (keep either Gresham/Kelly) and put Shipley in the slot w/ Ocho and TO—-Ced/ B.Scott in the backfield (or on third down supplant the back with Leonard….
it comes down to mind over matter....if you don't mind, it won't matter
Like it...
Rotate in Bryant with Shipley when he returns and they can definitely dominate when they do need to go to the air. Makes a No-Huddle that much more deadly. RUN until the Safeties cheat up then the Play Action will be there all day long.
