Andre Smith Plans To Play Final Two Preseason Games; Evan Mathis and Leon Hall Also Missed Practice
We wrote earlier that Andre Smith wasn't dressed, which generated some concern with Smith's tenancy to put on weight could be problematic considering his injury could have prevented him from staying in shape on his own during the offseason. Geoff Hobson writes that Smith's goal is to play in the final two preseason games this year.
Smith, who missed all of the last camp in a rookie holdout, was one of what appeared to be five players not suited up. The Bengals had hoped the foot surgery that knocked Smith out of all of the spring workouts would be healed enough for him to line up in the first practice, but he said it's not there yet and they don't want to rush it. As for when he'll return to practice, he said "I'm taking it day by day."
Along with Smith and safety Tom Nelson, cornerback Leon Hall, guard Evan Mathis and PUP-lister Rashad Jeanty also missed the morning practice. According to Geoff:
Hall apparently tweaked his back in a workout a few days ago and is expected to be out only briefly and could be back as soon as the weekend.

Speaking of which
My Tweetdeck stopped connecting overnight and can’t get it connected. I went to a different program and it seems to be working again.

RE:
Yep. Doesn’t seem that there’s much concern RE: Hall though.

Heh. I haven’t shaven in three days and my diet has composed of pringles and mountain dew — fine diet, if I might add.

AB
AB will be the best receiver for the Bengals in 2010. He’s all business. No TV diva promo photo opts as with TO or Chad in “Circus Maximus” just football. Stay focused AB. Think what he did in his first act since TO signed…..gave up his number 81….albeit for some cash but he has risen above the pettiness and is here to play football not to grandstand.
You are what you eat
Andre luncheon: Thurmonator, side of cheese fries, 12 deep fried chocolate twinkies and a 2 liter COKE. ahhhhh. Field of Dreams.
No discipline
Maybe there is a legitimate reason for Andre Smith’s problems, but on the surface it seems that he lacks discipline (I’m probably preaching to the choir on that!). My point is that the Bengals may need to get a Life Coach for him. I’m assuming that Andre Smith still cares about football.
