How annoying is it...

That the Ravens are getting so much respect, while the Bengals are getting next to none.  I know I'm beating a dead horse but come on.

Their first round pick likely won't play much this season since he will miss camp, and foxworth is out.  Still I don't hear anything about the Bengals being the favs to win.

Also everyone keeps making Flacco out to be the next big thing.  WTH?  Nobody in the media has faith in CP9 but a guy like Flacco who has yet to put together a season with a rating above 90 is now the 2nd best qb in the league?  Give me a break.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Cincy Jungle's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Cincy Jungle's writers or editors.

Maybe nobody has faith in Palmer because he has yet to put together a playoff victory in his career. Flacco has done it 3 times.

He hasn't won in the playoffs but he's done other impressive things.

He won the division last year with several injuries (messed up left hand, sprained ankle, and countless other nagging injuries.) I just hope he can get some playoff wins this year to start being considered elite.

Palmer is 0-1 in playoff games. It’s not something that I would call a trend.

Also, let’s not pretend that Flacco is some kind of a playoff hero. In his two postseason games last year, he had a whopping 39.4 QB rating, and the year before that he had a combined 50.8 rating in his playoff games.

This is our year!

Only stat that matters is wins, and in Flacco’s first two years, THE QUARTERBACK of the Ravens got 3 playoff wins. Damn good job to me.

Wins are a team category. QB rating is individual.

you’d be arguing the exact opposite if it was palmer with the scrub stats and the PO wins

doesnt bother me one bit

How many games do win because some ‘expert’ at cnn picked as a super bowl contender? Zero.

I hope all the experts pick baltimore. It will make it that much sweeter to beat them.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

The Bengals will get more respect if they can continue their success from last season. Heck, if they have another winning season, I’ll be a believer. They had a good run last season, but they only won 10 games. It’s not like they were 12-4 or 13-3. Furthermore, the Bengals haven’t posted back-to-back winning seasons since 1974. They’ve had good seasons since then but disappointed in the following seasons, and that’s been fairly recently (see 2005).

The Ravens were 13-3 in 2006, had a down year in 2007 with a 5-11 record, were 11-5 in 2008 and were 9-7 last season. They have proven that they can win consistently, something the Bengals have not shown recently. If anything, people should expect a poor season from the Bengals if history is any indication. Obviously, nothing is certain, but you guys are being naive if you really believe that people are wrong for being hesitant to trust the Bengals.

by BAL_Hawk on Aug 1, 2010 10:40 AM EDT reply actions

He's right.

You need to be a consistent winner to get respect.

Of course, it’s silly to believe that the Bengals will be bad just because “history” says so.

If we can start off 2-0 (our second game being against the Ravens...)

People will start respecting this team more.

The Ratbird fans will still

blame the loss on the refs or find some other excuse other than we’re better than them. Always happens. We could sweep them the next 10 years and still, in their eyes, the Ratbirds would still be better. Cough, Cough, and the Stoolers to.

This is because we win in January, when it matters, when everyone is 0-0. You do not. Ravens had a better season than the Bengals last year.

Those are fighting words around here.

by BAL_Hawk on Aug 1, 2010 1:03 PM EDT up reply actions

We both went 10-7, but the Ravens won in the playoffs. Cinci didn’t.

by Mr MaLoR on Aug 1, 2010 1:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Maybe,

You guys should worry about beating the teams that usually beat you.
We don’t have any excuses other than our play. You guys seem to put the blame on everything/everyone else except….
Blah, blah, blah, it’s always the refs, b/c your corners are better than we think. LOL Break a leg guys, oops! did I say that! Sorry, I don’t actually mean that, or yes I did, b/c that’ll give you guys an excuse then. Your going to need’em.

Just a sneeze

When Maualuga gets a 15 yard penalty for sneezing on Tom Brady’s knee like Suggs did, let us know. Or when Maualuga doesn’t hit Kerry Collins in the helmet and gets a 15 yard penalty, let us know. Or if you get called for running into the kicker in the AFC championship game, and instant replay shows nobody even touched him, let us know. Or if a receiver face masks your defender and drags him to the ground and catches the winning TD with no penalty called, let us know, because you did that to us last year. If any of that happens to you we will be very supportive, because we’ve been there. And forget about reversing a touchdown where only an engineer with a micrometer could make the call.

blah, blah, blah. no one will ever get sympathy from bengals fans about crappy calls from the refs; as a bengals fan, you know going into every game that the boys in stripes will be playing against not only the listed opponent but also the officials.

i'm going to go america all over your ass!

Go punt yourself back over to where you belong,

The refs, the calls and injury are all part of the game. Be a stand up fan and stop making excuses. If you wanted some cheese with that whine, then move to Green Bay.

by WHYUS!! on Aug 1, 2010 4:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Where I belong

Would that be win teams that win playoffs and a super bowl.

by Punt on Aug 1, 2010 11:06 PM EDT up reply actions

No, it would be on the Ravens page

where they believe your BS about a team that went 6-0 in divisional play being inferior to the second-place team.

"your BS about a team that went 6-0 in divisional play being inferior to the second-place team."

I think many bengals fans have no understanding of the playoffs. The regular season is only there to set up the playoffs. Playoff wins and Superbowls are the only thing that matters. I’m ready to go insane for the regular season to start (hell the pre-season) but it doesn’t mean a thing come January. All it does is set the brackets for the tournament.

I agree with malor. I’ll take the raven’s thrashing of the pats in their stadium over having the jets come in and kick your butt at home for the second game in a row! That was so funny to watch!

At the end of the day, Superbowls are the only thing that really matters.

Superbowls are the only thing that really matters.

And neither team won a Super Bowl last year so I guess that makes the regular season the tiebreaker.

It makes playoff wins the tie breaker if two teams get to the playoffs. Ravens 1, Bengals 0.

"And neither team won a Super Bowl last year"

That just means that the whole 2009 season was a waste for everyone in the AFC North. An existential black hole of horrible nothing-ness. We should never speak of it again.

And we all know if the tables were turned...

and the Steelers and/or Ravens swept the Bengals in divisional play you would have the same comments. Bull $!@#. You’d all be going on and on about how the Bengals were swept.

you’re right. hes far far too much of a moron to understand what playoffs are, and how they can sometimes be important

you sound a little bit like a whiny bitch. everyone gets screwed by the refs, stop holding a laundry list of a grudge against it

by klompus on Aug 4, 2010 2:48 AM EDT up reply actions

Thank you Ratbirds

How do you like the new rule where Brady and Manning won’t be able to cry about non existent penalties. You can get down on your hands and knees and that the Ratbirds for that.
