Jermaine Gresham Slotted
The Denver Broncos have signed their first-round pick, Demaryius Thomas, to a five-year, $15 million deal which includes $9.35 million in guaranteed coin.
Thomas was the 22nd pick in the first round last April, right behind Jermaine Gresham. The 20th pick, Houston's Kareem Jackson, has also come to terms, signing a four-year contract (with a further one-year option) worth $16.3 million ($10.35 guaranteed).
That pegs the deal Gresham ought to get at about $15.6 million overall, with $9.85 million or so guaranteed. As of earlier today, there had been no progress on the Gresham front, but hopefully the news out of Denver will help break the logjam.
Sunday morning update: The Cleveland Browns reached a reached a five-year, $50 million deal with their first rounder, CB Joe Haden, on Saturday. With that signing, Gresham becomes one of just eight first-round picks who remain unsigned.

Considering how Andre Smith...
Didn’t get the benefit of his slot, I’m not sure Katie and Mike will pay it much mind.
any word
anyone hear if gresham is in the area or training somewhere? thats the real story
This Is No Time...
for Mike Brown to get crafty or cheap on a slotted draft pick,we need this guy in camp NOW,things are different now, expectations are higher, lets get this done and just see this team jell,I myself wants to see Carson using all his weapons in the Hall Of Fame game next Sunday, even if its only maybe a couple of series of downs, and if Mike Brown wants ticket sales to get hot,he will get this done as well,I mean what am I suppose do with all this popcorn?
Exactly.
Just give him his 15.6 and 9.85, maybe even a little more if he MUST have it. We just need all the weapons there, gelling together. No time to have tight pockets.

I doubt the disagreement is over total or guaranteed money
Usually, the Bengals and their first-round picks bog down over incentives, escalators, option years, etc. The FO doesn’t like lots of bells and whistles on the deal, and wants incentives/escalators to actually be hard to hit, versus so-called “log” incentives (they’re as easy to hit as falling off a log…). So if I had to guess they are bogged down over things like, how many reception does he have to get before he triggers extra money.
Just to be clear...
Gresham was the 21st pick, not Kareem Jackson. He was picked number 20 and Demariyus Thomas number 22.
But let’s hope this sparks talks. If Gresham is to have a big role in our offense this season he cannot get to camp fast enough.
Agent
I think a bigger issue was his agent’s work load. If i’m not mistaken, he represents 5 first round picks with Gresham the lowest selected. My guess is that he was spending most of his time on Sam Bradford’s Mega deal!
