James Johnson Signs: Cordera Eason To Waived/Injured List
Brian Leonard remains on the team's active roster. That could be a good thing, if you're one like me that looks way too much into things (see, awesome Laveranues Coles prediction). Or it could be that Leonard is pretty vital and they want to take their time to make absolutely sure before coming to a decision.
However, the team's other running back injured during Sunday night's game, Cordera Eason, isn't so fortunate. According to Joe Reedy (and everyone else that's awesome enough to get press releases), the Bengals placed Eason on the team's waived/injured list.
This opens a spot for the Bengals newest running back addition, James Johnson who has officially signed with the team.

I figured Eason was gone
I just posted about 15 minutes ago that I thought that Johnson was a signing more for a training camp body and/or the coaches’ displeasure with Eason. I really think that Leonard will be ok and back in a month or so….I hope…either way, smart choice on Johnson for now. Training Camp body to spell Scott and Benson in the rest of preseason. I think they only look at Faulk, Westbrook, etc., if they find out that Leonard is out for the year—God, please no.

Why Leonard, why!
Of course the Bengals start mounting up the injuries on day 1…I swear the water there must be tainted with injury-proned chemicals. I was really upset about it, until I heard Palmer say “Leonard is a devastating loss, we even had a bunch of special plays tailored just for him.” That’s when I went from really upset to yelling and crying (ok, not really, but man that quote really hit home if it didn’t all ready). I hope it’s on the less serious side…I’m sure we all do.
Never enough Johnsons
on the Bengals squad.
I bet the decision to pick him up was made when Lippincott found a box of his old jerseys in the basement and they realized they wouldn’t have to buy new ones.
I liked this from Bengals.com this morning
At the moment, it appears to be for a backup role with Fui Vakapuna sidelined with a shoulder injury and rookie free agent Joe Tronzo the only other fullback on the roster. If they like what they see, it would allow them to keep just three tight ends (Reggie Kelly, Jermaine Gresham, Chase Coffman) and not four. If Skuta can back it up, they can still keep just one fullback and count him as one of the seven linebackers.
We can only hope that means Dan Coats can finally be asked to leave. GO DAN SKUTA! KEEP IT UP!
