Bengals Release First Version of the 2010 Depth Chart [UPDATE: Gresham and Bryant moved to back of respective depth charts]

On the Mothership, the Bengals first version of their 2010 depth chart was released. Of the things to take note of is Tight End, with Jermaine Gresham as the team's starting tight end over Reggie Kelly and Chase Coffman respectively. Antonio Bryant is listed over Terrell Owens. Here's the Depth Chart, thanks to Joe Reedy:

UPDATE:  Reedy follows up with this tweet, stating that Marvin Lewis moved Gresham and Bryant to the back of the depth chart, literally from the field.

Just got a followup tweet from Reedy.

From the field, Marvin moved AB and Gresham to the backs of their respective depth charts. Updating post.

i’ve never understood that either. the line was clearly better last season when mathis was on the field instead of livings.

Shipley #2 at holder?

Interesting. Never would have guessed he’d even be considered for the position. Wonder if the coaching staff is playing with the idea of fake FGs/PATs?

Can't update again,

Away from actual computer. Reedy followed up with another tweet that said AB was back as a starter on the chart. Marvin’s depth chart rules say that he’s where he would be if healthy right now.

while all of us having been watching the wr depth chart bounce around over the past few weeks

a couple of battles we aren’t discussing enough:

Michael Johnson. All the stats on paper that make him any NFL teams perfect project. Question is, does he make the team in 2010, obvious answer is yes. The better question is, what position does Johnson finally make an impact at in Cincy. Or does Michael Johnson make any impact in Cincy in 2010.

Frostee Rucker vs Jonathan Fanene. With Dunlap taking another DE spot on the depth chart and slots on the roster tight for other positions this season (see the 6-7 wr issue). Can Rucker and Fanene both be in stripes come Sept 2010. Difficult question to answer this early. If Rucker, Fanene, and Dunlap all make the squad the depth at DT and NT will be paper thin in 2010.

With the influx of rookies and FAs into the 2010 secondary, which 2009 Bengals have lost their spots on the 2010 roster. Morgan Trent, David Jones, Johnny Sears, Kyries Hebert, Jeromy Miles, Rico Murray, and Tom Nelson. Bengals will carry 9-12 in the secondary. Depending on how the roster shakes out, only 1-4 of the names above will still be on the opening day roster.

i hope rucker and fanene both make it. they’re both solid, versatile backups. and every time rucker makes a play, i love yelling “do you wanna get frostee with me!”

If it’s between Rucker and Fanene it has to be Fanene. He’s just a great, versatile backup. If both make it how many DT’s do you think we can field? I would have to imagine Peko, Sims, Atkins, and Tank Johnson are the locks.

I can't choose between Rucker and Fenene..Both have been...

Invaluable! I mean seriously, both players are the best back ups anyone could ask for. They always perform great! They could be starters on other teams for sure.

The first question is a bit ridiculous….Seriously, it’s like asking if Rey will make a difference next year, they were both BEASTS! I can’t wait to see them after a solid year under their belts!

The 2 I would want to see the most from that list are Hebert and Nelson. I think both play really well, and Hebert is a very good asset for special teams. I liked both Trent and Jones, but now with Jones making it for sure, I’m not too sure about the other two.

I agree about Peko, Sims, Atkins, and Tank, and probably Dunlap…but I really want to see both Fanene and Rucker holding the back up spots!

i think there’s a good chance hebert is a casualty of the safety depth this camp, and i think that’ll hurt special teams.
