Last week, we took a look at quarterbacks. This week, I wanted to take a gander at running backs. Two experts, Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard rank running backs in the NFL. Cedric Benson ranked tenth and ninth respectively.

Benson's Fantasy Analysis:

Star-divide

Benson rushed for a career-high 1,251 yards last season and the Bengals are hoping for a repeat performance in 2010. If Benson can stay healthy and out of trouble, there is no reason why Fantasy owners shouldn't expect the same -- if not better -- numbers from Benson this year. Cincinnati has more offensive weapons in the passing game, which could open the door for more yards for Benson. He should be viewed as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy RB on Draft Day.

Here's CBSSports.com's Fantasy Football ranks for Running back.

  Jamey Eisenberg Dave Richard
1 Chris Johnson Chris Johnson
2 Adrian Peterson Adrian Peterson
3 Maurice Jones-Drew Maurice Jones-Drew
4 Ray Rice Michael Turner
5 Michael Turner Ray Rice
6 Frank Gore Frank Gore
7 Steven Jackson Steven Jackson
8 DeAngelo Williams DeAngelo Williams
9 Shonn Greene Cedric Benson
10 Cedric Benson Rashard Mendenhall

Agree. Disagree. Indifferent? Should Benson be considered a better pick up than tenth and ninth respectively?

I think the ranking is reasonable.

I’d disagree with putting him below Michael Turner, DeAngelo Williams, and maybe Stephen Jackson. But that might be just the Homer in me.

They should have mentioned that he ...

put up those numbers in 2009 while missing three games.

he's only that low b/c of Tuddies

6 touchdowns over the course of a year would render most RB’s, in most leagues useless…..

it comes down to mind over matter....if you don't mind, it won't matter

Should have been higher than DeAngelo Williams, he will loose alot of carries to Johnathan Stewart this year….

I agree with the rankings

Benson is not used in the passing game and all indications are Bernard Scott is going to get an expanded role

Gore and Jackson are much more involved in the passing game and tend to find the end zone often. Turner is non-existent in the passing game but still scores lots of TDs.

Williams still gets 250+ touches, even in that time share. He brings much more big play potential and scores often.

Really Benson, Greene, and Mendenhall are all similar as they will get close to 300 carries and are not involved in their teams passing attacks. the difference with these guys will be who finds the end zone more and who stays the healthiest.

You agree with last years rankings

Not that Benson will produce any more than any of those backs but… Not involved in the passing game??? Maybe he just accidently caught 5 passes tonight. He pounded last season thru 8 an 9 man fronts. They can’t do that now. This benefactor of all this pass game remodeling Is Cedric Benson. They’ll rest that horse a little moreso… The only true weakness he has is…. Bernard Scott.

Ya can’t bypass Johnson or Peterson but Rice and Gore are safe grabs

Cedric Benson

I agree with the columnists that Benson is a top ten fantasy back. He had a breakout year in 2009 and his team made key off-season offensive acquisitions to bolster the Bengal’s attack. While I expect a little reduction in Benson’s yardage, I do expect Benson to have more touchdown opportunities.

2010 Fantasy Football Projection 4 Benson
