Gibril Wilson Suffers ACL/MCL Injury Against Philadelphia: Safety To Have Surgery This Week
As Craig posted Friday night, Bengals safety Gibril Wilson appears to be done for the year after suffering a confirmed ACL/MCL injury. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, he'll have surgery during the upcoming week.
Wilson's injury opens the door for guys like Tom Nelson and Rico Murray a shot for the fifth safety spot on the roster, which will be mostly utilized on special teams. Nelson recorded four special teams tackles in 2009.
However, one has to wonder, due to the congestion of talented cornerbacks, could the team simply take four safeties in Roy Williams, Chris Crocker, Chinedum Ndukwe and Kyries Hebert and use a cornerback as a hybrid defensive back. Hint: Brandon Ghee.

Cincy does not have a true FS on their roster and not taking one in the draft could come back and bite the Bengals in the ass.
The only thing the Bengals can do is hope Ghee can play FS in certain situations. The Bengals tried to trade up in the 2nd round to draft FS Taylor Mays and when that failed there were still 3-4 diffrent FS on the board but Mike Brown decided to draft elsewhere. Lack of FS hurt the Bengals last year but hopefully with Pac Man he can check opposing 3rd WR and TE.
