Bengals Sign Marvin White
The Bengals have added safety Marvin White, signing the former fourth-round pick two days after Gibril Wilson was injured
White played for the Bengals in 2007-08. He was with Dallas and Detroit last season. The Lions waived him on Aug. 18.
The Bengals were hoping that Wilson would provide depth at the position. He hurt his left knee during a preseason game Friday night against Philadelphia. Although the Bengals won't disclose the severity, agent Alvin Keels tweeted that he had injured the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his knee. He will have surgery within the next few days.

because
1) White is familar with the system. 2) injuries. Maybe they really like Miles, but what if he goes out and gets hurt just like Wilson on the last series of the last exhibition game. Then they are scrambling to find another replacement. Odds are White won’t make the final 53, but if injuries start piling up, then he will.
See, thing is, I follow the Lions as much as I follow the Bengals
The Lions have made strides, but Marvin White got cut from their secondary which is still in shambles with injuries everywhere. That’s why I dislike this signing.
I like Marvin White well enough.
I have no objections to bringing him in and seeing how he does.

Wait Wait Wait......
Isn’t Marvin White dead? Didn’t his dad shoot him?

Marvin White played pretty decent in Cincy
I didn’t want him cut anyway. Remember how much the coaches liked Nelson in preseason and how bad Nelson played the last few games. We can’t take a chance like that with a rookie like Miles. White is a veteran, a 4th round pick that knows this system. I like the signing.
So by that logic
Let’s cut Gresham, Shipley, Atkins, and Dunlap too. Because obviously you can’t take chances like that with rookies. Just because e went undrafted doesn’t mean he’s not any good. Jerome Harrison anyone?
RIP Slim.

You're right
Facts are retarded. Let’s keep someone who had coverage problems and couldn’t tackle for someone that actually does what we need him to do. Just because he’s an undrafted rookie. And those have never been successful before.
RIP Slim.

Just because we signed him...
…doesn’t guarantee him a spot. White gives us depth at one of our weaker positons. Let him compete for the job and see what happens.
If i'm not mistaken...
We’ve got 5 decent CB’s in J Jo, L Hall, Pac Man, Ghee, M Trent.
If JJ and LH start, and Pac plays $0.05, that lets you use one as a 4th (Ghee?) and then just put the 5th CB in a safety (Trent?). Isn’t the problem that our safties can’t cover (like Cinnamon DuckWeed and Roy Williams)?
If we’ve got tons of corners and few safties, it seems pretty straight forward….
I think this is basically what is going to happen...
…our approach to coverage has been let JJ and LH take away their #1 and #2 and then use a coverage specialist (whether it be a Safety or CB) to control the middle of the field. The problem is that we have been lacking that coverage specialist. Crocker, Ndukwe and Williams just haven’t cut the mustard in coverage. Now we have Adam Jones, hopefully and improved Trent, and maybe Ghee plus possibly Murray.
I don’t think it matters if they have an S next to their position or not.
I like Dhani Jones but...
…watching him drop into coverage is scary. Hopefully this improves this year as well.
Uncle Rico
Let’s give the spot to Rico Murray- plays CB as well and ST….gives us the ever coveted versatility that makes our roster so deep (as of late)….Plus he’s a natural Ohio product, which doesn’t mean jack except that I like him a little extra b/c of it :)
it comes down to mind over matter....if you don't mind, it won't matter
