We're Looking For Moderators
Tis the season. We're drawing closer and closer to the season. And you know what that means? Trolls lurk about.
However, that's not all. Recently, I've received several complaints about the language and viral things being said on this site in the comments section. This is disheartening because I pride myself on allowing you guys to be very open with your passions. However, at some point, we have to draw the line.
That beings said, I can't monitor every comment. So I have a job if you're willing to accept it. If you're always on the site, and would like to have a little more power, send me an email. We are looking for moderators, more than one. The job, keep things civil. Simple as that. If you're always on the site, and would like to have a little more power, email me at JoshKirkendall [at] gmail [dot] com.

RE:
There’s nothing manly about profane arguments on the Internet.

I know who's complaining...
…this is one of the tamest discussion boards I’ve ever seen. My only complaint is about the marketing posts—but I don’t know what can be done about that.
On the language: I would have to agree, this is fairly tame. Well except when the Stooler fans come by and the flame wars ensue. But other than that…
On the spam: not much other than nuking them as soon as they show up. Well, unless SBN wants to hire some better programmers.
You can ban them
There are 2 squeelers fans and 2 ravens fans that basically come here and stir things up. Yes, ignoring them would be the way to go, but there are too many people and they keep on pushing, so someone is going to bite.
It turns out I overestimated my apathy, but not enough to matter.
i like them
It gives you an outside perspective, it may be biased and sometimes provoking but it makes for good football arguments.

At times it is a different opinion
I spend a lot of time on different SBN sites, and the outside perspectives are a big reason why. I’m even an outsider here being an Eagles fan. But the majority of people who wander off site ar enot like the people I am talking about. Most of the time they just talk out of thier asses, whether factually based or not, to get a rise out of people. When people prove to be straight trolls (I’m betting that most people can name at least 2 of the 4 people I am thinking of with no hint other than trolls) then maybe it’s time to say goodbye to them.

+1 on the programmer front
It would be so easy to hook Akismet into the CMS. Why haven’t they done this?
+1
I’ll do it for them..

I have not read or seen anything offensive on the site
even though I get heated when fans from “bitchburg” I mean Pittsburgh come over running their mouth about defending Big Ben or how we are going to crash and burn this year. They sound scared to me…………………..WHO DEY!!!!!!!!
Football is a man’s game and sometimes it’s good to get a little vocal about your favorite team….no harm in that.

I've already bounced one regular and the season hasn't even started yet.
Just be cognizant of what you’re saying. Things that will get you flag or a warning from me are attacking posters themselves or using excessive language.
We’re here to talk about football, so let’s talk about football. Personality issues and flame wars aren’t a necessary evil to talk (even passionately) about your favorite football team.
I'd do it.
But I don’t think I’ve been around the site long enough to have the credentials.

Too late now.
Not a great name but I set it that way and I don’t think there’s any way to change it.
Seriously though, I’d have no problem doing this if you guys want someone (and you can get over the name lol.)

Shoot Josh an email if you're interested.
I don’t think the name thing would be a dealbreaker, man. :)

I emailed him and this was his reply…

Except that the strike wasn't there.
I forgot about that little formatting detail when I pasted it.

Discrimination!

Yeah,
We all use those certain words, well, most anyways. Just not necessary to go bezerk and use them repeatedly and be disrespectful to others. I love this site.
But if a troll from Shitzburg comes whining well… I’ll keep it to a maximum minimum.
Welllll....
I don’t have a name like sexsalad but I also feel I’m not obnoxious outspoken enough to be considered.
However, I did grow up in a 9-man household, with one Steelers fan, an Eagles fan, a Browns fan, and me being die-hard Bengals. So I’d say I know a few things about profanity moderation.
