I've been saying for quite sometime now that I believe we should be putting more attention from the draft and free agency on upgrading the competition and talent on the offensive line.. This of course all goes back to watching the team just miss the playoffs in 2006 have a mediocre year in 2007 then sliding in to a 4-11-1 team in 2008 all due to lack of protection.. Go figure Carson got injured and Fitzpatrick was running around like a chicken with his head cut off.. This is all tied in to the stripping down of the great line we had in 2005.. Now I don't know if its just me or what but the only thing except getting rid of proven lineman has been signing lard ass Andre Smith to the team which has yet to show us anything.. Sure we've developed but not good enough for Carson to take 7 step's back and make a throw (obvious in the play calling)... Now we have this from analyst's that are watching camp this year and it infuriates me...

I have not been impressed with Cincinnati's pass protection early in camp. You cannot see everything, because players cannot touch the quarterback. But the number of defenders getting in the passing lanes has been noticeable. That will be something to keep an eye on in the preseason.

A drill where the defensive line went up against an offensive line made up of turned-upside-down garbage cans. If any opposing offense deploys upside down garbage cans to protect the quarterback, I feel good about our team's ability to get pressure on the QB.
I'm not saying I don't trust guy's like Bobbie and Whit but outside of that I think there needs to be an upgrade in competition...The biggest fear for me is that we have all this talent around Carson but if he doesn't have enough time to relax and let the play's develop than actually we have nothing...We have Carson playing like Fitzpatrick... We have a QB that's injury prone that's getting killed play after play... I'm so sick of seeing Carson not having enough protection and being injured in one way or another...I'm scared we haven't done enough in that department to be a serious contender...I think everyone is blind or just refusing to see this while I've been noticing it for too long... I guess Walker and Mo Egger may have confirmed my worries... I hope I'm wrong..
