NFL.com reports sources say Odom's failed test was due to prescribed meds

NFLCom's Steve Wyche reports that sources close to the situation are saying that his failed drug test was not due to steroids or any other performance enhancing drugs for that matter.

Odom is appealing the positive test but it is not known how long that process would take. He is expected to be allowed to play through that process. The source said that Odom takes medications for certain medical conditions but would not specify those conditions or the prescribed medications. The positive test result did not involved performance enhancing drugs, recreational drugs or alcohol, the source said.

Hopefully this unfolds to be the truth. It would save a lot of embarrassment and would provide the team with a much needed player for the season. If this proves to be true than we can expect the NFL to not suspend Antwan for any games. At this time he hasn't been notified of any suspension, he is only appealing the failed results. In which case I think it's safe to assume if a suspension is enforced that would also be appealed. Hopefully that's not necessary and this issue is resolved more quickly than what a drawn out appeal process would take.
