The past two years, Marvin and Co. have begun to turn this franchise around. They have molded the Bengals into a tough, gritty, smash mouth football team that can grind out victories. However, the last two years I have noticed a complete betrayal of some “fans” towards the Bengals. Last year I went to the Kansas City game where we ended up winning a low scoring defensive struggle. During the game, I noticed that a lot of fans were booing the team. They booed because we continued to run the ball and play, what some would consider, a conservative offense. Hey guess what? We won and clinched a playoff berth. Another example is from yesterday’s game. A key time in the game that stuck out to me, was when the Bengals had the ball on their own 5-10 yard line. We were up by a field goal at the time and it was the fourth quarter. The Bengals ran the ball three consecutive times and eventually punted the ball three and out. Despite not even being at the game, I could hear fans at the stadium booing the team through the TV. This is completely absurd and despicable. Anyone who has a basic understanding of football can tell you, that what the Bengals did was the right thing to do. They protected the football, wasted time of the clock, and then Huber booted a terrific punt down the field to prevent the Ravens from getting good field position. Finally, we Bengals fans have a tough, hardworking football team to root for. I only wish many Bengals fans would wake up, quit being fair-weather fans, and learn a thing or two about football. This team deserves better fans than the ones who boo the winning formula that Mavin and Zim have put into place.
