NFL Roster Cuts: Bengals Waive Offensive Lineman Otis Hudson

We have to give Joe Reedy a ton of credit. While the Bengals are waiting to officially release their 2010 53-man roster at around 6 p.m., Reedy is hard at work learning which players are staying and going. That's no easy task. So while some of you may have your opinions about Reedy, know that the man is pumping information out there for us, to give to you and everyone else.

That being said, Reedy tweets that the Bengals 2010 fifth round draft pick, Otis Hudson has been waived. Hudson, later known as the matador, is being groomed as the team's eventual right guard replacement when Bobbie Williams either hangs 'em up, or moves on after his current contract expires -- at least for now. Even though he's being released, he's likely signing with the team's practice squad.

With news earlier that Reggie Stephens was making the roster, the only question was whether the Bengals would go with nine or ten linemen with Hudson being the tenth. We had nine linemen making the roster in our roster prediction with Andrew Whitworth, Anthony Collins, Andre Smith, Dennis Roland, Bobbie Williams, Nate Livings, Evan Mathis, Kyle Cook and Reggie Stephens.

Basically, unless something totally unexpected happens, your offensive line is now set.

I still dislike Roland

he’s way too stiff. This is definitely not the best Bengals OL in history, that’s for sure.

he sticks b/c he's our 6th lineman.

found a job for himself as our unbalanced line blocking TE.

Depending on how Lardo plays this year

they may be forced to spend a first or second round pick on offensive line (even though Safety and WR are needs that carry over)

Troy Smith has been cut by the ravens...

probs better than JTO if he makes it past the Bills etc on waivers

I would say something

But considering Smith is OSU and everyone knows I love OSU, I’d be yelled at. And I don’t like being yelled at. :(

go on and say it

NFL Career stats:

I know he’s not the second coming of Kenny Anderson. But come on, it’s Troy Smith. OSU’s Troy Smith. The one that got hot for a couple of NFL games in 2007. He’s young enough to learn something still.

Honestly T Smith

is better than JT O’Suckmeister, but there are probably a half dozen waived QBs who are. The Bengals ought to pick at least one of them up… but I wouldn’t be sad if they waived JTO and JP and picked up two. If Carson goes down the season is over anyway.

Thats the main thing

Once Carson goes down the dropoff to any of these other guys is massive I would like to see a guy that can at least be groomed though

Patrick Ramsey would be a good case in point. Not sure if he’s better than Troy Smith, but he’s got about a 98% chance of being better than JT O’Horrible.
