Dezmon Briscoe Cleared Waivers: Not Among The Team's Announced Practice Squad
On Saturday, the Cincinnati Bengals released/waived/terminated (the contracts) of 22 different players. On Sunday, the Bengals announced which one of those players will remain on the team's roster. According to Joe Reedy, the team's practice squad will consist of:
- Chase Coffman
- Otis Hudson
- Clinton McDonald
- Joe Tronzo
- Rico Murray
- Vincent Rey
- Jeromy Miles
The name that doesn't appear is wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe. And guess what? Briscoe actually cleared waivers, but wasn't taken on the team's practice squad. Surprised?

I think you can only have 7
You can keep 8 if one is a QB

You are allowed eight
They left one spot open.
Pretty much puts it perspective what they thought of Briscoe.

I never understood the fascination with Briscoe.
Bengal fans should know better than to place too much value into potiental.
Especially potential as evaluated by our one lonesome scout.

Whoa
We have a scout now? Moving on up!

Exactly.
Briscoe’s got to be #8 on the PS. Really surprised that Coffman made it through. Relief though—unless he gets snagged, he’ll be brought up on the active roster either early on, or if/when they get a FB, making Coats expendable (as if he wasn’t already).

Kind of funny...
…considering all the “OH NOES!!!! He’ll NEVER clear waivers!!!” comments about Briscoe.

he may be back
Seems like right now the bengals are clearing roster spots so we can make some more moves. With JTO and briscoe off we can some juggling.

I guess Briscoe isn't as good as I thought
hope he catches on in the Canadian leagues or something.

Briscoe, as good as #191
Briscoe was selected in the sixth round and was the 191st player taken in the 2010 NFL draft.
He’s not that good. He may have been talented for a sixth round draft pick, but the bengals receiving core doesn’t need anyone near a sixth round ‘value’.
He could develope………………any draft pick needs to develope, even more so after the 3rd round.
The bengals are a playoff team, and they are starting to act like one ! ! ! !
If he cleared waivers, he's the eigth guy on the PS
Briscoe’s agent, Eric Burkhardt, said Sunday that he was waiting to hear if any other clubs had claimed his client. He said the Bengals have offered him a spot on the practice squad but they plan to sift through their options Sunday night if he’s not claimed.
+1
same. if simpson had eligibility left, without a doubt the team would have kept briscoe and parked simpson on the practice squad. but simpson doesn’t. briscoe does. was pretty simple what was going to happen.

Where are all the haters?
Briscoe won’t clear waivers, cutting Coffman is stupid, etc.
There’s a reason these people have jobs in the NFL and we don’t. Just sayin.
RIP Slim.

well..
i didn’t hate on coffman’s release, i sorta expected it could happen. came down to him, coats, rucker, or simpson. one of them had to leave and what did i say when the bengals picked coffman:
so if he clears waivers (i snickered a little there) he could end up on the practice squad.
