Pat Kirwan of NFL.com has the Bengals winning the Super Bowl
Yes, you have read that right. An actual NFL "expert" has some love for the Bengals. Normally when I look at these panel board prediction sites I just am happy to see if some of these guys even having the Bengals making the Playoffs. Of the seven analysts on the panel not only is Kirwan the only one saying Cincy is going to win XLV, but he is also the only one saying they will win the AFC North! Maybe even more shocking is that of all seven, only THREE (including Kirwan) have the Bengals making the Playoffs.
So I guess what this boils down to is, Thank you Mr. Kirwan for showing the Bengals some respect and confidence. It is about time that people start realizing the potential of this ball club. Yes, we have an enormously tough schedule, but this is the kind of schedule that Super Bowl winning teams go through to make it there. I know that any Bengal fan that is as devoted and excited as I am about this season has just melted after reading this prediction.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Cincy Jungle's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Cincy Jungle's writers or editors.

He's the only one.
The rest have the Ratbirds winning the division. Only two others have the Bengals even in the wild card. Bucky Brooks has the Steelers winning the division and I remember one person predicting the Raiders in the Wild Card.
Granted, one’s better than none, just you kinda have to wonder a lot why journalists have to back the big-market teams instead of giving the better ones love.
Bucky Brooks is an idiot
Whatever he says should not only be discredited, but expect the exact opposite to happen.
It turns out I overestimated my apathy, but not enough to matter.
Big-Market Teams?
Is that why every one has the Packers in the SB? Smallest market team in the NFL.

One reason these predictions are usually pretty lame
is that the turnover from year to year is higher than you see in preseason predictions. Half the division winners don’t repeat, that’s just the way things are.
In the NFC:
I get the Packers over Vikes – Favre had a career year last year.
I get the 49ers over Cards – Because: Really? You’re going with Derek Anderson?
I would even get the Redskins over the Cowboys because the ’Boys are overrated and the Skins just picked up a pretty good QB.
I have no idea how anybody could pick the Falcons to overcome the Saints and their 510 points last year. The Saints are under-appreciated even after their Super Bowl win.
In the AFC:
I get the Ravens over the Bengals – The Ratbirds were very good in DVOA, much better than their 2009 record
I get the Jets over the Pats, because the Pats are declining now that Belicheat cannot spy
I almost get picking the Texans over the Colts but that’s the boldest prediction there.
The Chargers win their division by default, even though the Bolts didn’t do much to improve, it’s hard to see them not winning.

i’m sorry, i just can’t understand picking the redskins higher than third in the division; considering the personnel issues the giants are having, i could see the redskins finishing ahead of new york, but that albert haynesworth distraction will rear its ugly head (see philly in 2005 with t.o. or us in 2008 with chad).
i'm going to go america all over your ass!
Yes I know
I know that these predictions are lame and almost NEVER right. The point of the post was to point out that this organization is actually getting some respect as a competitive contender.
