Can I ask a Serious question?
Now that my Raven's have sign TJ Houshmanzadeh(Is that how you spell it?) I would like to know what exactly we are getting out of him. Can I get your guy's explanation on what he will bring to our team? And I need a couple of more words to post this post, so I typed this sentence explaining that, to fill the required amount of sentences. I still need a couple more.......

You're getting a receiver good at going over the middle and getting the tough passes
However, you’re also getting a receiver that many in Cincinnati dislike for his comments towards the city, the fans, and the team after getting low-balled on a contract.
Money is the root of all evil. It can cause people to act in ways they never usually would. I honestly don’t think he meant any of the comments he said, and I bet you he is a shamed of them now.

Possibly
I think he kinda wanted to come back here given the “I was the go-to guy” comments, but the Bengals just didn’t have room for him.
I think he will have a chip on his shoulder when he comes to CIncy, because IMO it kind of seems like he didn’t want to leave.

he wanted to leave. the bengals offered almost the exact same amount of money the seahawks did; t.j. just wanted out.
i'm going to go america all over your ass!
He wanted to leave
cause he thought the Bengals weren’t going to win, but then he blew it by picking Seattle over Minn.

He also wanted to leave
because he didn’t want to play second fiddle to Ocho.
TJ’s a good slot guy. He’s just not a #1 WR and that’s why he failed per se in Seattle.

You will be glad you signed him IMO
To bed honest I thought the Bengals and the Ravens were a pretty evenly matched contenders for the division title. I looks at position groups and came tot he conclusion that until Reed comes back we would be able to cover your receivers better than you could cover ours, the evening out factor being that your D line would be able to handle our Oline a bit better than ours would be able to handle yours. That would make our O’s pretty even with Rice giving you a slight edge, very slight, over Benson.
With TJ that changed. Flacco will have the additional big target over the middle that he needs. I thing this will make you a better O than before. The question is how effective will our new additions of TO, Gresham and Shipley be. Nobody knows. It is possible that they will be good enough to keep it even but even if they are as good as we think it will be a real dogfight and, much to the chagrin of my Bengal fan buds, I think TJ gives you the edge, but it will still be close. The Ravens just got better but still lack a real stretch the field WR until Stallworth returns. You will be better in the second half and I am not sure we will be able to keep up.

I like what you have to say very unbias on your part. I think everything you said was correct. It will be a dog fight that is why i think we split in the division.

A big mouth & a bad attitude
Its all about TJ not the team. Disruptive force in the locker room. Wait til he doesn’t get the reps he thinks he should and the sparks will start to fly. Oh, and wait for his exit interview. He will blast your team and coaches. Good luck with the soap opera.
lol
you’re WR corp contains OchoCinco and TO. And you’re telling us good luck with the soap opera. I’m struggling to contain my laughter at this statement

well
oh and the seahawks, who need a wr, paid him 8 million to go away. what does that say..

That says Seattle is paying for him to play in Baltimore. Sounds like a good business decision by Ozzie to me…
hope ozzie spends 1.99 on some duct tape
and tells ray lewis to use it anytime TJ opens his mouth.

He's good on 3rd downs and getting tough catches over the middle.
But like others have said, he’s a troublemaker and he has a really bad attitude. He’s a pretty big locker room problem.

+1
3rd down conversion machine. His attitude has been a problem lately, but I’m not willing to call him a ‘problem guy’ just yet. I think he has been frustrated lately. Does that excuse his diarrhea of the mouth? No, but I don’t think he’s as destructive a force as some in the media are making him out to be. Loved him when he was here.

he was a disruptive force in the locker room when he was here; he complained more than chad did, just not to the media.
i'm going to go america all over your ass!
Your right, Chad's antics overshadowed TJ's mouth
Although Chads antics are somewhat harmless, TJ has been the one that disrupted the team. We were looking at what Chad was doing and not TJ.
I think the locker room stuff is overrated
I wouldn’t expect TJ to be a problem in Baltimore any more than I expect TO to be a problem in Cincy.
But all he adds in Balti is another possession receiver, which they have plenty of. It’s certainly a good move, if only because it givens the Ravens a proven, experienced guy on another team’s dime, but I don’t know that it puts them over the top or anything.

and a guy that is durable
he’s young and solid compared to mason and stallworth.

stallworth is 4+ years removed from a real season
housh put up numbers last season in an offense that had no clue what to do with him. and always worked hard for us when on the field.

Completely overrated.
Has one move in his arsenal which is the 9 yard stop option to get 1st downs. Lacks top end speed, completely arrogant and stupid. The only reason he was productive in Cincy is because we only had 2 wide receviers during the last 8 years; him and Ocho. Will never be a #1 becuase he’s just not that good and his attitude sucks. Vanilla pick up for you guys.

First downs work for me. Thanks.
Keep dreaming.
Last year I predicted on your SB blog that our defense would not only be top 5 in the league, but that it would be better than yours. You can imagine the response I got from deuches like yourself.
I predict this year you won’t make the playoffs.

Looks like we are making the playoffs this year since you are wrong with your predictions. Ravens 3rd overall defense last year, Bengals 4th. Get it straight, then come try and talk smack.
If your fragile little mind is having trouble comprehending how dumb your last comment was, I will sum it up for you.
- Ravens better points per game
- Ravens few yards allowed per game
- Ravens more interceptions caused
- Ravens more fumbles caused
- Ravens less than 100 yards difference between total passing yards allowed
- Ravens better rushing defense
- Ravens less penalty yards
- Ravens more playoff victories.
But thanks for the effort and your incredible predictions. Can’t wait to make the playoffs this year!!!
Hahaha
You think being wrong is humilliating? Try again. What’s humilliating is the effort you make to be right in a sports blog. Now that’s pathetic.
Plus
I wasn’t wrong about our D being top 5. I just don’t care about your team enough to see where they ranked last year.
I know you weren’t. 4th overall is in the top 5. I know this. But I bet the icing on the cake for your prediction was saying that you would be better than we were on defense throughout the season……which you weren’t.
honest question
who is baltimore’s deep threat in that receiving corps? boldin, mason, and houshmandzadeh are all possession receivers.
i'm going to go america all over your ass!
they don't really need a deep option.
with running game, screens, and out routes they can work the 5-15 yard game all day long. its a viable game plan.
"wherever Brad St. Louis is and Shayne Graham is about to be." -R.F. Mehl
Getting a fighter
Whatever else you say about Housh, from bad attitude to has lost a step, etc., you’re getting a guy that is going to compete hard on every play. He blocks well and has a nasty streak on the field. Runs good routes, very good over the center.
Your getting insurance
He gives you four proven starters. Don’t know how Flacco can spread the balls around but you can’t go wrong for the price.
i won't repeat too much
you’re getting one of the better 3rd down recievers if you get the TJ from 2 or 3 years ago. the problem though, is that TJ was so good because he and carson were in synch so well. i’d be more worried about this move if it was made at the beginning of training camp than if it were now. but if flacco can develop a rapport, it’s going to make the team more difficult to get off the field on 3rd down.
your main problem is he doesn’t have a ton of speed. and with stallworth out, you’re going to have the same problem we did last year, you won’t have anyone to take the top off of the D to open up the underneath routes. that’s a serious issue considering all 3 of your top receivers are underneath guys. it’s going to get pretty cramped in the middle of the field.
john thornton seems to discredit the theory that TJ was a locker room cancer and he was in the locker room, so i wouldn’t worry about it too much. but i would worry about seattle dropping him when they literally have nothing to gain other than about 400 grand that you’re paying him that they don’t have to. but they other 7.6 mil they’re paying him to be gone isn’t a good sign.
i would also worry about him not getting the ball. i think it was a stupid move on his part. he’s not going to get anything more than vet minimum next year and for the rest of his career now because there just aren’t going to be enough plays to get him stats that will earn him anything more at his age.
RIP Slim.
My opinion
I think you have 2 guys who think they are #1 recievers who are really # 2 recievers. If Boldin and TJ are on the field together I don’t see a deep threat. If Boldin and Mason start (which I think is your best lineup) then TJ may be a disruption. If TJ and Mason start then you are overpaying Boldin. If you use 3 reciever base set then you play away from your strength. You got a great possesion reciever, but I don’t think you improved your situation.
Anquan 1.0??
He’s bascically an older, slower version of Boldin… but an excellent slot reciever. Carson once said he’s the best in the biz in that position
Does he play defense?
Last time I checked TJ plays WR and not CB.. Great move but this did nothing to help ur currently Ed Reedless secondary
