On if it will be a little weird putting a Ravens jersey on after previously playing in Cincinnati: "It was a little weird when I tried my helmet on today. I tried my helmet on and it was a little weird. Just… I’m not a person that really likes change. I’m starting to realize that about myself, but sometimes change is better and I look forward to it. I’ve been on a lot of losing teams in my career. This team had a great shot. It’s only five or six teams every year that have a legitimate shot to win a Super Bowl, and that’s just what people think. But you’ve still got to go do it, and this is one of the teams, even if I wasn’t here, [that] had a shot. For me to come here and them to accept me and want me on the team, I’m just going to try to do my part, that’s it."

TJ Houshmandzadeh on how weird it is to play for a Bengals rival.

I bet he thinks we missed that.

A lot of losing teams? True, but a real Doushmandzadeh thing to say.

uh

was it untrue? He didn’t say “I’ve been on a shitty team” or “The bengals sucked”.

Hell, I thought this was kind of wishy washy and not “I’m excited to be here!”. Surprised to see the sentiment in the thread.

I don't like his words against the fans in Cincinnati and hate him for it..

But it’s still going to be hard watching him wear a division rival’s uniform..

Words?

I don’t remember him speaking out after last offseason, what did he say? I just remember a report during the year last season that he wished he would have stayed in cincy

by gpcu02 on Sep 7, 2010 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions

he also ran his mouth about the city of cincinnati

right after he landed in seattle, he only started missing cincy once seattle fans started calling him The Housh after his chicago mouth episode wore out some people there.

he talked about how excited he was that the rich people of seattle didn’t bother him for his autograph like the peasants of cincinnati did. to paraphrase.

your paraphrase...

how does it relate to what he said? I really don’t remember anything particularly nasty. Something about the Bengals not giving him a serious offer… don’t remember dogging the fans.

Reading it dispassionately,

I don’t see what he said that is intended as an insult to the fans of cincinnati. It’s just a comment on the difference between the two.
I went looking for the origination of the quote and couldn’t find it. I’m guessing it is from ^here^. I don’t see anything where he says “and it got on my nerves”. Hell, I could read it as saying the fans in Seattle are too aloof, if I chose.

the statement about “you can just go about your business” is clearly an indication that he was perturbed that the locals would bother him for a picture or autograph. also, the statement “there are so many millions out there” is an obvious comparison claiming that there aren’t millionaires in cincinnati.

or saying one city's population

has the class not bother him.

of course the silly fool hadn’t considered, seahawk’s fans didn’t ask TJ for his autograph b/c they didn’t want it..

and they did give him a serious offer

It was the same offer, except the signing bonus was 7 million more. 15 mill compared to 8 mill. Same length of contract which was 4 years 28 mill.
Seems that is the same offer that MB gave Coles and Bryant too.

weird?

Its like the FO just uses the same contract over and over again. It cannot be laziness, it must be a staffing issue. Injuries.

Corrections

“It was a little weird when I tried my helmet on today. My head was too big for the helmet. I mean they had given me the biggest helmet in the stadium and I still couldn’t fit my head inside the Ravens helmet without assistance and some Vaseline.

Just… I’m not a person that really likes pocket change, I prefer large bills. I’m starting to realize that about myself, but sometimes TJ will accept free change, thanks Seattle, and it’s better and I look forward to it. I’ve been a loser in my career. This team was the only one that would give me a shot. "

One thing Housh doesn't realize

One of those five or six other teams capable of competing for a Super Bowl is the Cincinnati Bengals.

Oh, he knows.

But Cincinnati wasn’t going to take him back.
