"Had it been one of us doing some of the same things, pulling these stunts that Brett Favre has done the last two or three years, then we would be labeled 'not a team player,' 'selfish,' and these are times where you want your guys to be in camp, bonding with your teammates, learning the plays, going through the whole team concept just like everybody else. And now it's like, yeah, he's set himself above team standards."

As much as it pains me
(As an Eagles fan) TO has a point here. There is a media double standard for Favre, I agree, he isn’t helping his team each year when he does this attention grabbing dance between retirement and playing. If it was TO or Ochocinco they’d be crucified. Look at those two, they’ve really bonded this offseason, I’m not a Bengals fan but I follow them both on twitter, they come off as BFFs after just a single training camp. How many BFFs has Favre made on the Vikes since he joined? Probably none. He’s done nothing there besides turn half the locker room against the head coach.

Hate to Agree with T.O.
I’m a Bengals fan but never will be a T.O. fan. I have to agree with him because neither T.O. nor Chad nor any other “top” athelete in football would be allowed by the media to get away with such a diva attitude and instead be labled “a humble guy”. Yes the Vikings are at fault for allowing this, I hate to see what other stars do it next year, but the media has been just as bad because they have given him a free ticket just so they can get their interviews. Everyone knew he would be back after camp, he knew it, Vikings knew it and the league should fine everyone involved for allowing this to happen. All he did was go against the Union contract that the players love throwing in the fans face everytime we watch.
Race card
I hate to bring this card out of the deck, but I think this rings true. Black players are viewed differently than white players. You can argue that Brett Favre is an all-time great, he’s a quarterback, he’s _ (insert whatever you want) but at the end of the day terms like DIVA, malcontent, _ (whatever negative comment) are usually directed at black players. Nobody is chastising Logan Mankins for holding out.

Mankins is different
Over all I do agree with you however the difference with Logan Mankins is I don’t think he is under contract. I think he is a restricted free agent.
Sure
But so is Vincent Jackson. And he’s been portrayed in a more negative light as opposed to Mankins.

Shut up and play
I’d like to see TO and Chad just shut up, perform, and let others do the criticizing of divas like Brett Favre. Guys like TO and Chad will never understand why we despise them and appreciate those who don’t have to exhalt themselves just to fulfull their egos. It’s like we’re dealing with little kids here…
"Let others do the criticizing..."
I’ve heard very few people criticizing Favre. I think what TO said needed to be said.
Who despises Ochocinco?
If you despise Ochocinco as a Bengals fan then I don’t want you to be a Bengals fan. Hop off the bandwagon and join the ravens
Players shouldn't criticize other players. Not the way they are.
There’s a code of ethic amongst the players. They need to just shut up. It could very well hurt them down the road.
I agree about Farves selfishness, but some other things just shouldn't be said.
Something could happen as to say hypothetically, To or Ocho are retired and are going to be on the HOF ballet. If they pissed the wrong ones off, then they won’t get the votes to get in. Just one example of such down the road things that could happen.
It’s called being Blackballed and it happens all the time to players that make enemies. And with their new show, they’re going to make some. They should just keep their mouths shut.
obvious
you know why? …….. cause brett favre is white , he is not an “selfish” black guy, yet he holds his team hostage every year, its as hypocritical as it gets , and by the way im a 29 yr old irish american.
The man doesn't even share a locker room with his teammates
He had the Vikings convert an office into a private “locker room” for himself. I mean come on, you’re a part of the team, act like it.
