WE NEED A QB!!!

First of all I think that we can all agree that Carson and Jordan are both not that good no matter how they were in the past or at the collegiate level. Carson wants out and if Mike Brown is stupid enough to hold onto him then Carson would become the new cancer in the locker room just like Ocho and Owens have been this past year. Bottom line is that YOU NEED A FRANCHISE QB TO WIN IN THE NFL. PERIOD. Looking at the draft it seems like a bunch of QB's with a crapload of question marks surrounding them. Newton is way too much of a risk since he played in a gimmicky offense and it would take too long to develop him. Mallett has an arm but has horrible decision making and can't move around for his life. I'd rather let the Cardinals or Minnesota take Mallett. Gabbert is the second coming of Vince Young or Akilli Smith and also played in a gimmicky offense with worse stats than Chase Daniel who is now a back-up on the Saints. Locker obviously has accuracy issues but the reason I think we will and should take him is that he may be the safest bet out of all the QBs with the right situation. Let me explain....

I ain't no stat genius and I won't bore you with numbers that usually don't mean much once a player steps onto an NFL field on Sunday. Jake Locker played for four years at the University of Washington with a horrible team. Let me reemphasize that: A HORRIBLE TEAM.... Perhaps one of the worst in the Pac-10 but he somehow still managed to beat my team USC for 2 years in a row, that doesn't mean much, but the reason why I think we'll take him is the fact that our coaching staff has been working with him all week and likes what they see. Sure he has some accuracy issues and pocket awareness issues, but those are things that can be handled over time. And Locker may feel comfortable if he comes here since he already worked with us during the Senior Bowl. He also has the physical tools and intangibles you want in a QB: big build, terrific arm strength, mobility, great leadership, etc. Think of the offense we could create around him if we hired a Brad Childress or Josh McDaniels? (who is with the Rams dammit). I'm not saying we should take him with the fourth pick, but we still need him to have any type of success next year. I'm sure Mike Brown will bring in a veteran to be a stopgap if Locker isn't ready out of the gate and I'm also sure Bob won't be back next season. Brown never trades up but he could trade down to 10-12 and nab a franchise QB. And it may be a huge hint that we are strongly considering taking him when our QB coach heaps that much praise on a propsect who was slated to be the number one pick last year
