I don't know if he originated this nick name, but Paul Cannon mentioned it in this past post-game thread and I liked it. And hopefully this post will advertise the "Scrappy Cats" as the 2011 Bengals' nickname (which I'll take full credit for of course...) To validate it, I like it for several reasons....
1) We're not necessarily the Cardiac Cats because well... the 2009 Bengals earned that name. And we haven't had many come from behind victories - mostly close games where we like to toy with the opposing team by allowing them to get back in, then scrap out a win in the closing minutes.
2) It's almost a slap back to the face of those claiming we are a depleted team and came out lucky in some of our early games. Well, if you keep succeeding, then eventually you have to stop calling it a fluke. Yea, we're a scrappy team that just doesn't go away... well okay, whatever you want to call it, we're winning.
3) We're winning with the scraps from last year's "franchise" players (Palmer, Chad, JJo out -- Dalton, Green, Clements in). Carson who?
4). A blocked FG by Clements and fumble-TD recovery by Dunlap... following last game against JAX where we finished the game with a sack and fumble recovery. These games giving us as many victories as last year, before we even reached the bye....
This is actually a very weak post, so I thought I'd throw in a poll and mention... I found $20.
