Without a doubt, Brown has overnight turned this franchise around and headed in the right direction. Here's my argument.
Brown was right several years ago when he protested the agreement, that notoriously turned into an UGLY fight between Millionaires and Billionaires.
Brown gave Marvin a new contract and changed the rules of engagement between the two of them. Marvin subsequently fired Brat, and Hired young upstart Jay Gruden (...and there was much rejoicing)
Brown stuck to his guns on the draft. We pretty much knew AJ Green was a lock. Dalton. I won't give him all the credit here, but he certainly didn't stand in the way of these picks.
Read on.
Free Agency: Brown did stumble with JJoe. But, it was made up for in a BIG BIG WAY. We didn't even need Rivers after the moves made. I still think we should have pulled the trigger early and got a quality guard. That move may have cost us a 5-0 start. We'll never know.'Come back to the stadium', Mike Brown pleaded to the jaded and polarized fan base. 'we're good. Just come see.' And we <strike>were </strike>are better than every beat writer claimed.
But there was a thorn. The lingering thorn in our backside: Carson. Today, Mike Brown made his move and played his ace in the hole.
Carson gone. Baggage gone. Mike's face has been rescued in a way that shook the entire NFL. He has MAXED OUT Carson's trade value beyond anyone's expectations. He has given Bengals fans a huge wave of encouragement. The stadium numbers will soar for the rest of the year. Imagine the rookies and journeymen faces when they run into PBS on November 13th for a PACKED home game against the hated Pittsburgh steelers. The crowd will be deafening. The players jacked up. And there will be Mike Brown. Sitting in the booth, with his father smiling down upon him.
